I'll respond to comments and put together a longer recap later this weekend, but the relevant news is this: Younger Brother made it!

His audition was a big success (the Head of Percussion was very complimentary), he rocked the interview and he scored well on the music theory exam. He is utterly thrilled, very relieved... and kind of pooped, but ( Read more... )

~snerk~ Wisdom does have an effect on my hair, it's true, but it tends more to the Snape look than the Hermione one. ;-)

I had a LOT of fun at the concert. It was a packed house, the performances were great and the audience was enthusiastic. We were definitely bundled up, though, because it IS effing freezing. I mean, it's a whole 23 degrees today, but that's balmy in comparison to the weather over the last two days. Luckily, it was toasty warm inside the hall.

Thank you for all the good wishes! I'm very proud of him. The concert was fantastic, too--a great day all around. :-)

Thank you very much! It is nice to see him succeeding at what he really wants. :D

I had a very serious amount of fun at the concert last night--entirely too much, I'm afraid. Given that it was the first night of Hanukkah, the atmosphere was especially festive...

Thank you! Yes, that's exactly it: I'm gratified to see him succeed and deeply relieved that he made it through. Man, it's tough to watch the people you love go out and take those risks, but to see them soar is priceless.

And there is no day that cannot be improved by a trip to Zingermans. It was insanely busy there yesterday, and yet it was worth every minute of the wait. :D
