Thank you, and I hope you and your family had a Happy Easter as well. :D

What a wonderful way to put it! Yes, they are very special indeed. I've been stunned by the generosity and kindness of people since the accident. Human beings can really be very amazing when they want to be.

Thank you so much for sharing this! What a lovely story. &hearts Oh, Severus. It isn't weakness at all. ~sigh~ Hopefully, someday he'll realize that. Easter is just the perfect holiday for him, too, isn't it? Talk about rebirth, renewal and rising to new life...

About Dad: yes, he's home. We brought him home in the afternoon on Good Friday, so it's been kind of a wild weekend as we all find our bearings and figure out when I need to be there, what we each need to do, what works best, and so on. Dad went through an unfortunate period where he didn't want the drugs because he didn't think he needed them. ~headdesk~ Yeah, that was a bad call. I pointed out to him that he doesn't need to be mindlessly tossing back pills every four hours if he doesn't need them, but if he's feeling pain, then he needs the meds. That's why they're there. (I did offer chocolate, though, which he was happy to take ( ... )

Probably all of the above... and yes, Severus would be deathly afraid of appearing "weak" by admitting pain. The funny thing is that it's an almost entirely emotional, non-rational response, because by taking the meds, you aren't seen to be in as much pain. Taking them gives you some degree of functionality and normality, which is frequently impossible without them. So refusing to take them often brings the end result of appearing to be "weaker" than if you'd just taken them.

And that, of course, is if you judge people as weak or strong according to the fact that they feel pain when their bodies are damaged. Me, personally, I see that as biological fact, rather than moral failing... but I'm rational like that. ;-)

Anyway, Dad's come around to this point of view, too, and thank goodness. It's horrible to have to watch him in pain.
