I'm on the Quiz!
The theme for this week's quiz_sshg is the Winter 2008 Round of the SS/HG Exchange, and the lovely, brilliant quiz mistresses have done me the honor of featuring The French Connection! Not only that, but morethansirius has really outdone herself with this banner:

I'm off to the store for some long-overdue grocery shopping now. Another snowstorm is due in tomorrow (sigh), and I want to pick up provisions ahead of time. (The classic Northern Pre-Snowstorm Ritual: everybody in the world floods the grocery stores as they suddenly realize that they're out of milk and bread, and the world will undoubtedly come to an end if they don't run out to the store right now and pick it up before they're snowed in.) Tonight's dinner is taken care of, as I already loaded up the crock pot with potatoes and carrots and mushrooms and pearl onions, seared some beef stew meat, deglazed the pan with a little (okay, a lot) of red wine, added in some beef broth and seasonings, et voila: I can come home to the aroma of beef stew. I also have a mind to try Bambu's recipe for gingerbread, if I have the time. Something about cold weather and snow storms always makes me want to cook comfort food. (Cold outside, warm and snug and well-fed inside = Bliss.)
Oh, and by the way, did I mention that I'm now off on our Mid-Semester Break? Because I am. :D I have nothing planned, and that feels quite amazingly good for a change.
