Conspiracy Theories

I am feeling indignant & crabby. So what else is new?

I want someone, anyone, to restore the Gibbs Museum & the beautiful house that's next to it (and currently up for sale for $50,000, but the house has to be moved!). Dear Whoever, if I biuy a lottery tiket & win, I promise to spend at least 1/4 of the money on restorations for the Museum, if money is the primary obstacle for its demise.
I also promise to buy at least 3 of the Duluth homes that are for sale, to restore them fully, & to use them as seasonal/long term rentals (as well as a new place for my mum). I can't believe how many homes are up for sale in Duluth. It makes me hurt. And scared. These homes have NEVER been for sale in the 35 years that I've been traveling to Duluth. So... either they're all dying off, or they're all broke. Something.

Anyway. Back to the Museum.
The U of M probably wants to consume it all, as an add-on to their golf course. The Gibbs family used to own 160 acres, right about at the time MN became a state. 150 years later, we can't be bothered to save what's left of the museum & the lands. Doesn't anyone else find it infinitely interesting that Mrs. Gibbs was raised among the Dakota as a child, learning their culture & language? When she & Mr. Gibbs made their various homes, she was an apparently rare white woman, in that the local tribespeople would continue to use the property as a trail, as well as establish a positive relationship with her?
 I do.

I resent the poverty that takes away what is meaningful for the people who will come after us: the loss of Museums, art, buildings, campgrounds, tourist information stops, etc.; the list is eternal & growing like cancer. Poverty is bad enough, but having to close something down that is so vital, so important... I fucking resent it & am angry.

I fucking suck at math, but I can do easy sums such as: you drink a fancy beverage once a week, and it costs you $4. This is $16/month. That is $192/yr. Throw in $8 because you are feeling generous. Multiply that by the piddly population of any nearby 'burb, say even 5,000 of the residents. That's one million dollars. One million dollars that could have helped save an important part of Minnesota's history.

Why did it close??? I am distressed.
