Moving Minutae

Where I've been for these past couple weeks: packing boxes.

There's now around 42 of them packed, mostly with books, graphic novels/manga, music, videos, games, and my not-insignificant collection of toys. The Pinkies in particular ended up being scattered across several boxes, as the packages were small enough to fit into crevaces left by Final Fantasy Play Arts, Evangelion action figures, and other such things. Packed the last of the Pinkies around the end of last week; its black and gold purse slipped from me while I was first sorting through and cleaning the whole lot, and I only just found it a few days ago.

One annoying thing that happened on Friday, while I was starting to pack up my two FFVII statues: one of the straps on Vincent's cloak snapped off >_< >_< >_< Fortunately, it looked to be a clean break, but I'll still have to be extra careful when I cement it back on after we move. A similar thing happened to my Bome Halloween-chan* figure (but with the tip of one of her wings)-- I used too much Krazy Glue and the result was that now there's a small bit of hardened glue over the seam. With Vincent, the fix must be flawless (also, I'm gonna see about using epoxy or some other, different type of glue/cement... whatever will work best).

Aside from the packing, we've also been sorting out stuff to get rid of. We're not going the eBay route after all, in favor of recycling, donating, reselling (directly, that is), and throwing away. Carbunkle and his original CRT monitor were sent back to Dell for recycling last Thursday (sniff, sniff), and several old video tapes, CD- and DVD-ROMs, floppy and Zip disks, an old hard drive, etc. have been set aside to send to a technotrash recycling facility (not sure if the old PS2 can go in with that lot; I still have to check on that). We're also looking to donate some old furniture, clothes, etc.; hopefully, that can be done next week. As for the stack of old books and CDs that have been accumulating, I'll be making a trip to recycling bookstore Book-Off next week to unload those. On that last note, I still have to finish going through some manga that I'm not sure I want to keep. Angelic Layer I think I will (and probably finish it, too!), but there's still some others (Wild Act, Tsubasa, Kare Kano, etc.) that I'm still unsure about. Old artwork (including a ton of shitty animation drawings for a film from roughly seven years ago that I never finished), old documents, and other old papers (not to mention the plastics and metals) have been headed to our current place's recycling bins.

Been taking breaks every now and again to play games, and am now at the final boss in Elebits. In addition, we just went through a major story event in FFXII last night, but I haven't touched Makai Kingdom in at least a week (a situation which I'll probably rectify today). Makai Kingdom isn't as captivating as La Pucelle and Disgaea were, but at least the inferior "grid-free" system is better implemented than it was in Phantom Brave. So far, the story isn't as good as it was in any of those three previous Nippon Ichi games.

Elebits, by the way, is Wii-liscious; Katamari fans in particular should pick it up. As for FFXII, it continues to provide all that Ivalice goodness I've come to expect from it.

* - After finding that link, discoverd that not only does Bome have a Misty May figure coming out soon, but domestic versions of the Kotobukiya Shinji and Kaworu set are on their way-- ZOMG! Also still would like to get Bome's KOS-MOS some time-- disliked Xenosaga but loved the character design. Had a chance to get it in San Fran, but wouldn't have had room for it in my luggage!

final fantasy, general gaming, stuff, collectables, pinky:st, animation, rl junk
