Na no nee noo

My friend Gwen has a novel inside her (well, only one is showing, but I suspect there are actually more lurking) that she is trying to get out. In the spirit of this (because, knowing her, she will write EXACTLY the book I want to read) I am going to write here every day this month. Maybe just a word! Or a sentence! But solidarity, yo. Because I suspect that having a novel stuck in you must be rather uncomfortable.

So...in the most awkward of catch-up posts ever, I am back in the U.S., having left Japan in June. I have spent most of the summer in Michigan at my parents' place (living in their barn), with trips to Oregon, New York, Louisville, and Puerto Rico for various reasons.

I was supposed to go back to Japan in October, but concern over my aging parents and a bad injury (I tore my "psoas" muscle away from its attachment at my "thigh bone," ugh) have induced me to stay. It is very beautiful here, which is nice, but very isolated. Other than weekly trips to town to see my PT (who is awesome, even tho there is PAIN) I basically see my parents, the dog, the cat, and the chickens. Especially Danger Chicken. About whom more will come, I am sure.

My mom has been camping with a friend in Maine (just to note, my mom is 71 years old--camping!!??) and returns today. Other than that, I guess we will dig the last carrots out of the garden and pick a bunch of arugula and lettuce that is under row covers, and we will cover up the solar collectors for the winter (they use a wood burner to heat the house / water in the winter). I will do my exercise routine, which consists of jumping rope, several hundred suburi (cuts) with a wooden sword, and two hours of stretches. We will cook chicken stew to celebrate my mother's return. And maybe walk the dog in the woods. And I'll finish writing a thing for my work.

Anyway I suck at posting at Livejournal but I am really going to try! Go Gwen! Write the shit out of that thing!!! GO!!!!
