I've picked up some freelance voiceover work. I was very surprised to learn there is a second edition of Anatomy and Physiology Revealed CD-ROM coming out and they want me to voice it again. I had kind of assumed if there was a follow-up edition, they'd pick a new voice....but maybe they're keeping enough of it the same that they don't need a new voice. There were 70 pages of Latin anatomy terms waiting for me when I went to the studio on Wednesday -- took us two hours to get through about 15 pages (and some technical difficulties). I'm going back on Saturday to tackle the rest.
I will also be doing commercial VO work for a jeweler in Massachusetts...I'm not sure when that will start but it will be a nice semi-regular gig that isn't too time consuming.
I had been doing a lot of reading the last couple of weeks but have backed off of that a little...just to rest my brain and concentrate on what I'm trying to write. I was hoping to work on a short story in progress yesterday but Youngest Daughter wouldn't let me out of her sight -- it's hard to keyboard with a 3 year old standing on you. Maybe I can tackle some of it on my lunch hour today before the ideas get away from me.
Taking a short break from genealogy research too -- my brain was starting to overload. I need to catalog the information I have, set about getting copies of certain documents, and establishing a formal "tree" somehow to keep it organized. My maternal grandfather's family name was spelled wrong in the 1910 census, which made me chuckle. I was glad I wasn't searching "cold" and I knew how to quickly verify the information was accurate outside of the spelling issue.
We have another mystery on our hands, as Fred would say in "Scooby Doo." My mother apparently has a cousin out there somewhere who was given up for adoption sometime in 1946. All I know is her name was Patricia and she was born in Pennsylvania. Her name may have been changed and heaven only knows what her adopted last name was or if she was married or if she's even still alive. My mom asked me to check mostly out of curiosity -- I don't think she wants to try and meet her or anything. I did find a database of orphanages and childrens' homes in Western PA dating back to the early 1800s. That might yield some interesting info.
