yesterday i took eros to the hammond trail spur up in mckinleyville -- where i took the last sunset photos. we walked down to the mad river, right near where it enters the sea. on the opposite shore, we saw a huge herd of seals or sea lions sunning themselves on the river bank. a guy walked nearer to them and they all flapped and flopped into the water at once, leisurely drifting down the stream towards the sea.
we also saw a fellow coming up from the south on a motorized parasailer. he skimmed low to the beach and then went up and did a few 180 turns. i have serious gear envy.
today we got up at 7 to get my car into the shop for an alignment and new tires. it set me back quite a bit, but i still think it was a pretty good deal. now if only i had the $500 to get it registered -- $100 for the registration, $200 for the two parking tickets i have in SF, plus $200 to get insurance. in california, you can't register your car without having proof of insurance. AND if your insurance lapses, your insurance company tells the state and they immediately suspend your registration.
i got a fair bit done today. it seems like the laundry is never ending. we did manage to get eros set up in the office with his desk and computer. i had to just give up and ask him to move stuff around. so now the piles are sequestered in the closet. but they're still piles -- completely unorganized. i worry that stuff will disappear in them, but for now it is a workable solution to get him some more space.
i've been painting terra cotta pots to put my succulents in.
today i was snuggled on the bed and all three cats were laying with me -- bu and quetzal on either side and chick at the foot.
i've been hanging out on www.photo.net checking out the impossibly great photos other people take. it's inspiring, but intimidating too. it gives me something to work towards.
