Meme - because I am a follower and everyone is doing it :)
01. FIRST NAME
Kelly. Not spelled Kelley or Kellie. Whenever I go anywhere I always get asked this and it's frustrating. I want to say "I am old so I spell it the old way!"
02. AGE
41. See I am old.
03. LOCATION
Manhattan, IL - about 45 minutes southwest of Chicago.
04. OCCUPATION
Legal Assistant. I am actually much more of a paralegal but my firm is managed by doofuses.
05. PARTNER?
I met Jeff a few years ago on E-Harmony. If you haven't heard we were married on June 25th (ha ha ha). Jeff is probably the nicest, sweetest, most loving man I have ever met.
06. KIDS?
Jeff has a 17 year old son. Enough said about that. I spoil all my nieces and nephews. They are my children.
07. BROTHERS/SISTERS
I have two older sisters. Patty is the oldest. She is currently planning her civil union to June, her partner of the past 13 or so years. Over the holiday weekend I was asked to be her Matron of Honor! I could not be more happy.
Kim is married to mark and they have three kids.
08. PETS
Two cats. Tatiana, whom I adopted about 7 years ago is my baby. She has gotten me through a ton of rough times. Star is Jeff's cat. He is my troubled cat. He was shipped around a lot before Jeff finally took him in and even then, his home life wasn't great. Jeff worked a ton of hours and wasn't home a lot and Star did whatever he wanted. I have yet to break him of nasty habits.
09. LIST THE 3-5 BIGGEST THINGS GOING ON IN YOUR LIFE (in no particular order)
1. My foot was broken at the reception so right now that is the biggest focus. Will I need surgery and if so, what will take place with that.
2. My aunt is back in the hospital yet again. Turns out the rehab center she was transferred to (against our wishes or knowledge) was a disaster so now I get to spend my weekend trying to find an alternative. It is never ending. I feel guilty because she is such a terrible person but I loved my uncle so very very much that I will go to the end of the earth to make her happy, just to please him (hoping he is looking down and smiling).
3. Thank you cards, crafting and scrapbooking all the wedding stuff.
10. PARENTS
My dad married my mom for her money. No joke. He was from the wrong side of the tracks and thought she had rich parents. Just turned out they worked a ton and spoiled her and my uncles rotten ha ha. He is an alcoholic and when he was younger, he was a raging asshole. Never to me but my sisters remember some bad moments. He mellowed and eventually quit the heavy drinking and now only has a few. He is a different person since my sister's kids were born. I have always been Daddy's little girl. He is my strongest supporter and probably one of the smartest people I know, even though he never finished high school.
My mom is, well, she is my mom! She will give you the shirt off her back but she will remind you she did it for the rest of your life! She is deaf and has a speech impediment which makes it difficult for people outside the family to understand her. I feel bad for her because I can't imagine what that is like. Her hearing is the reason my whole family is so loud!!!
11. WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR CLOSEST FRIENDS?
Nearby? Linda and Cindy. They have known me since high school and have seen me at my best and my worst and still love me. I know I can ALWAYS count on them to be there for me and help me through anything.
I have some LJ friends who are also amazing people and I know if we all lived closer we would spend time together. I still plan on meeting them all one day!
12. MISC:
Honestly now that I don't have a wedding to plan there isn't much going on! I plan on fixing up my house. Decorating was put on hold because the extra money was all going to the wedding. I also want to go on an amazing trip next year.
