this is happening!

Utilities canceled? Check!
Boxes ordered? Check!
Clothing parred down? Check!
Accumulated paper sorted/saved/recycled? Check!
Apartment shown and potentially subleased? Check!

Damn skippy, things are a-movin'. I forgot how quickly real estate can be snapped up in NYC, even over the holidays. The first person who saw my apartment wanted it instantly (not too surprising--I felt the same way). I hope he gets it because he seems like a sweet and spirited person. And! If we transfer this lease by around the first or second of the new year, I can get my deposit back and avoid paying another month's rent. Sweet. If this person's application process is a bust, I'll try again next week via Craigslist and an open house. I'm fairly hopeful on this front. Worst case scenario is that I break my lease and lose my deposit--that's it though, just the deposit. Not to shabby, that.

Now I'm on the hunt for a charity that picks up clothing and possibly furniture. Not easy, btw. I also need to secure a moving truck, but I think I have that beast fairly tamed. Oh... and the books... *groan*. I have quite the collection, and some just need to GO. Others will add to the art-farm's library quite nicely.

And speaking of art, I've been sorting through some of my old thesis notes and it struck me: I can be an artist/art historian again. I used to do that. I can do it again. Holy wow, I get my dream back and the bonus of a new one realized: farming! Best of both worlds, no sacrifices. I'm so frickin' excited. Mind, I'll still have to keep my business/finance/legal skills sharp. Sharper, really, since this is my new job (I've been named the Business Manager) and I have a vested interest in seeing us succeed. A job I believe in... crazy!

L flies into NYC next Wednesday to help me say goodbye to my favorite places, celebrate NYE, and drive the moving truck to Michigan. And did I mention that we're ridiculously in love?

Pinch me.

No, don't.
