morning, dappled with consternation

I called out sick this morning. I've had a cold for the last three weeks; the cough was the worst part by far, but it had mostly subsided. Yesterday, perhaps due to the 20 effin' degree weather and relentless winds, my cold reared its ugly head. I decided to stay in, nurse it with lots of liquids, and take care of some business. Hopefully I can stave it off and still have a fun New Year's Eve.

True to any sick day, I've already watched a movie--The Girlfriend Experience. I probably don't need to expound on how depressing it is that women can make more money with their bodies than their brains. It's nearly the preposterous, sci-fi sounding future... 2010. Where are my flying cars, meals in pill form, that badass hair thingy (a la Judy Jetson), and, oh yes, EQUALITY?!? *sigh* I'm too tired to fight the world today.

Business. I've got to take care of some business. Namely, financial calculations. For the entire year I tracked every purchase and expense. Crazy cakes, right? Yet empowering. By month, I categorized everything, then graphed the allocations by percentage of my take home pay. 36% rent, 9% groceries, and so on. Then, as if that wasn't annal enough, I averaged out my quarterly expenses so I could get a better grasp on how to budget. Despite all that, I'm still not very realistic about how much I'll spend in entertainment, toiletries, and sometimes even food (though it's clear inflation is upon us). Today I'll add up the grand totals in every category, then promptly have a conniption. Good times.

What else. I'm going to buy some pillow fill and finally finish three pillows I made from my old bed quilt. Maybe I'll revisit the new costume project I set aside for my tests. I need to address the details of tomorrow night's outfit too. It's going to be retro-'50s, but I'm stuck on the footwear and could really use a black or red cardigan. I also have a tattoo session at 6:00, hopefully it's the last one. Talk about a money pit--man, I don't even want to think what better use I could have put to that ink money...

money, tattoo, art, health
