Macy's follow-up

Sep 06, 2006 10:09

I failed to mention (what with all the thesising) that Macy's was VERY interested in my online complaint and the manager of the entire Harold Square flagship store called to assure me that dude would be seriously reprimanded, if not fired. They were investigating his character by conducting interviews and collecting written reports from various people in the store. Decent. I was also really glad the manager was a woman--I felt like the situation was really being taken seriously. Is that slanted and sexist? I don't give a shit, it's true and I've worked in law long enough and sexually harassed on the job enough times to know that it's a less (sexually) hostile workplace when a woman's in charge. Harassment, no matter how roguish and "innocent," truly boils down to power. I straight up refuse to feel powerless.

Macy's also sent me $80 worth of "Macy's Money" to lure me back. I could use a new suit in the next few weeks but I don't know if I want to deal with that place again. Between mid-town, the shoppers, the messy store, and the lackluster (at best) employees I haven't the energy, but $80 really does sweeten the deal. Dammit.
