So, where was I? Oh yeah.
The new internship is good. Not spectacular, but not terrible. The people I work with seem pretty cool so far. But I was really spoiled last summer at IBM so there are some things that just don't measure up (like the awesome cubicles we had, and the really neat project, and just being able to work with other interns) so I've been disappointed in those areas. My cube is smaller than most of the other ones, and I have a giant pillar partially in the opening of it. I can see that they gave the intern the worst cubicle there is. Ah well, go through 3 months of this to get your foot in the door and a better job later.
But there are some things that I like about the new place...Caribou Coffee, free milk (I swear there is no way in heck I am ever going to get osteoperosis after this summer), a fairly casual environment, the cafeteria serves decent food, and my manager and mentor and other people I'm working with seem pretty nice and laid back. And my hours are flexible, just as long as I work 40 a week.
Just got done watching Office Space with Keith, Marie, and Sue. Great movie. But it kinda makes me really notice the things I hate about office life, makes me hate my job when I really don't mind it. I'm not sure I really like the office/business environment, but I really like programming. If that's the case, I figure I should be just fine...at least until I ever feel like changing careers.
I'm debating about getting up a little earlier and trying to see the transit of Venus on Tuesday morning. Space stuff kinda fascinates me....plus it's just cool because it's such a rare thing to happen. Unfortunately, I don't have any special protective glasses so I don't think I should....not to mention it's supposed to be stormy on Tuesday morning as of now. But since when have meteorologists been able to predict the weather?
