Monday Menu

Because of my long weekend I got my menu planning for this week done last Friday. I didn't get a chance to post it until today, though.

Memorial Day Monday: Brats, hotdogs, corn on the cob, and potato salad
Tuesday: Sausage, egg, and cheese casserole. I have a couple of bags of leftover buns from the potluck last week that need used up.
Wednesday: BBQ Chicken Pizza
Thursday: Asian chicken legs with rice
Friday: Fried corn with smoked sausage
Saturday: Leftovers
Sunday: Grilled chicken wings and BBQ macaroni salad all from the Cooks Illustrated Summer Entertaining issue.

I have plans this summer to learn to like two things before labor day. Those two things are beer, and dark meat chicken. As you know I'm a super picky eater, but I hate it. My tastes have very slowly been changing over the past couple of years and I have started eating some new things, but I had to really work at it. I really want to like both beer and dark meat chicken for a number of different reasons.

First, have you ever seen the face of someone who takes that first sip of delicious beer? I want to experience that. Plus, the fact that Mike is a homebrewer kind of sucks for me because I cannot partake in his tasty brews. We've been experimenting lately and I've found I like hefeweizens so we're going to work our way up from there.

Second, dark meat chicken is cheap. I got chicken legs for $.99 a pound this weekend and I've seen thighs for $.89 a pound. When white meat chicken is $3.00 per pound on sale, it only makes sense to learn to like the cheap stuff. So with the chicken wings and chicken legs on my menu, I take my first steps into the world of dark meat chicken.
