A few days late, but I finally saw Shattered! I'm sure Global is doing it's best to sabotage this show, and we've been denied an episode somewhere AGAIN, but this one? This one was pretty damn good. :D
(FWIW, the ratings for this episode were 431,000. Considering it dropped as low as 273,000 for the previous aired episode, I see it as a definite \o/ moment.)
Here we go: 'Everyone's A Hostage To Someone'
HEY, it's the Doc. :D *settles in with Ben for the session* Ben has a big gash on his cheek. How did this happen?!
Okay, so this is a flashback episode. Something big has gone down.
Ben and Amy doing some interviewing of a suspect. The big guy shows them his fists, but he seems remorseful. I see tears!
Ben in the morgue with... Morgue Lady (What IS her name?!). We get a corpse-eye view. Nice.
Ah, the dude was a dead man walking! Suspect Paul is not responsible.
Terry and Hall saunter in to the department. Trying the rock paper scissors thing again. Love these two! What's up with Hall's jacket though? Hmm.
Hall, ever the flirt. "Amazing.. Grace." Oh ha ha.
Hall escorts Sheriff Grace to the holding cell, she's picking up Suspect Paul, and some deranged looking guy. Trouble is afoot!
Back to the morgue! We learn what happened to the kid on the slab.
Interesting statement from Ben:"If someone has power over you, they have that power. Doesn't matter how big they are." Amy nods, I'm sure she's thinking of Nick. Wonder who Ben would be referring to..
Uh oh. They're talking about leather straps and belts. I think Ben's just popping out for a second. *g*
Here comes.... Harry?!!

Amy finds it amusing, and she's being apologetic to Morgue Lady for Ben's behaviour. Heh.
Meanwhile, Harry is poking the body, just to confirm the deadness. LOL.
Amy tells him off, good thing she didn't catch him sneaking the drugs into his pocket!
Okay, Harry as the cop? HOT. He likes to show his weapon. There's a swagger. Me likey. ;)
Things are coming to a head here - Sheriff Grace is rounding up her prisoners, the dead kid's mother has just arrived, Harry is still with us...
Oh please don't let Harry explain to Mrs Mason about her son's demise as HILARIOUS as that would be.

So, Amy is in with the Doc, talking about what happened. There was a shooting in the police station! WHO GETS SHOT?
Jimmy the Deranged thinks he's going to get out of this?! Pffft.
Harry's trying to defuse the situation. This is going to go about as well as you would expect.

Okay, all the cops are trying to get Jimmy to give up the gun. Instead he wants THEIR guns. Suspect Paul is conflicted! DON'T TAKE SIDES WITH JIMMY!

Oooh, SWAT has arrived! It's channeling Flashpoint. :D
Hall is outside for some reason, talking to SWAT guy.
Back in the bullpen, the situation has reached the TV cameras. They're on the news! Jimmy the Deranged kicks the bucket of guns in frustration. What you gonna do now, Jim?
... he makes them close the blinds, so now the SWAT team can't see. Great. And he's splitting everyone up! Morgue Lady, Pam, Sheriff Grace, and a bunch of others are taken to lock up.
Ben steps up, trying to get through to Paul again.
Back to the Doc and Amy. OOOH she's touchy about the Nick subject. The Doc is ON FIRE today. :)
Jimmy laughs at Nick. He's been shot and he STILL thinks he will get back together with Amy. Someone get him a doctor! Or a... medical examiner, apparently.
Ah ha. Morgue Lady she is no more. Vina! I'm sure they've said her name before, but I'll try to remember it this time. *g*
Nick is still twitching. Let's all take this as a good sign.
Pam is working up a cunning plan to get them out of there, it seems.
Vina takes Suspect Paul to the Morgue for her tools. "Try not to look"! Bit late for that.
Ahh, so THAT'S how Hall got his jacket ripped. $400?!?! The dude likes his clothes. *g*
Oh dear. Hall is a bit irked by the thought of Kevin becoming Mayor. Me too, Hall.
"As far as I can tell, the man hasn't had anything heartfelt to say his entire adult life." Terry tells it like it is! :D

Nick was apparently there to cover a story about a Good Samaritan Killer Ben and Amy arrested. Huh.

Ben goes to Kevin's office for booze - when there's no anesthetic, it will just have to do!
Amy tells the Doc she doesn't need a white knight. *gasp* She was glad when Nick got shot. (can't say I'm surprised.)
Nick is a noisy patient. 'Here it comes!' IS HE GIVING BIRTH?! *blocks ears* Oh god, now he's convulsing or something. :\
And now Jimmy and Suspect Paul have their faces on the news.
Pam's grand escape plan falls flat. At this point, I would just like to focus on the others, though. SORRY PAM.
Oh look, Kevin is here. Showing concern for his team. Or not. ME ME ME, as usual.
Yeah, go make your statement. WHAT A DOUCHE.
Ben decides to answer the phone. It's negotiating time! *rubs hands together*
HA. Yes Kevin, that is correct. They're leading the mad gunman outside your office. I can almost feel the horror creeping over him. 'Please! Spare my spiffy ties and polished plaques!' Thank goodness no one has mentioned they stole his bottle of booze. Hee.
Jimmy does not approve of this plan.
The crazy mother decides to release her rage on Suspect Paul. Again. Clearly she has problems, and played a part in her son's death. Or, her husband did, at least.
Ben is about to pop out again...
Ohhh, it's Ivan! I thought we were going to get Sam for a moment there, but Ivan is mean with his words not his fists. Wow.
Ivan brings out some mother issues, that's for sure. o.O
AND SHE IS DOWN. Jimmy shoots Mrs Mason. Paul shoots Jimmy. Uh oh. Paul is in the line of fire now, too!
Aaaaaaand situation defused. :\
LOVE the Doc. He's going to get to the root of Ben's condition, one session at a time.

Nick is taken away in an ambulance. He lives to stalk another day.
Mr Mason is brought before his wife and stepson in the Morgue. Bad daddy is going to jail! YEEEEEAAAAH.
Final scene with Ben and the Doc: "There's things you can't always say to your partner or your wife." He used to talk to Ella about these things too. Aww.

WOW. I have no other words for this episode. Really. I mean, WHERE TO START. Hostage taking scenarios on shows are usually pretty straight forward, I liked the way this one was broken down - flashing between what happened, and Amy & Ben recounting their side of it to the Doc. I was happy to see Harry as always, he is fun to have around no matter what the situation it seems. Amy was showing her hard ass side, she definitely seems relieved she doesn't have to deal with Nick for a while. (he needs recovery time, right?) She's still confused about Ben's behaviour but then, most of them are, eh? *g*
I was glad to see the Doc return, and get into some serious therapy with Ben. His case file on Ben must be HUGE by now, he had so much to work with there. The blackouts, Ben's emotions at the last moment before the blackouts. Did he have any experience of abuse in his life? HE DOESN'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT. OMG. Layers! Peeled! I just... *flails*
I think I need to watch it again. :D
