It has sat on the shelf for close to two years but finally Case 39, the horror flick from director Christian Alvart (Pandorum), will finally see the light of day. Paramount Pictures has confirmed that the film, which co- stars Zellweger’s reported beau Bradley Cooper, will bow on October 1, 2010.

A studio source said the R-rated film had been shelved for so long because of internal management changes. Earlier this year, though, Paramount’s international arm released the film overseas to strong numbers, particularly in Spain and Mexico, where the film grossed $3 million in each territory. These numbers gave the studio confidence that a domestic release was warranted.

Check out the trailer for the film below. It’s interesting to see what two years will do. The dating couple’s careers have almost switched places since this was filmed. Cooper’s career has certainly taken off thanks to The Hangover while Zellweger’s seems to be on pause. Case 39 centers on a social worker sent to investigate a troubled 10-year-old girl’s familial situation only to get too involved in the dark forces that surround the girl’s life.

Just when I forget about this film, it crops back up again. I also wonder if the domestic release is warranted by Bradley having his Hangover/A-Team success? Heh. It's been months since Case 39 was out here. In fact, the DVD is released in a couple of weeks now that I check Amazon. *adds to list* What can I say? I'd watch anything for the Callum-goggles... ;)
