So another year has just come and gone. (And I'm back on LJ to document it a bit.) I remember last year, my "resolution" was to be able to give a good answer any time I was asked "What's new with you?". I've been really sick and tired of living the same listless life for the past 5 years. In a way, this "resolution" set a few things in motion for me. There are plenty of days when I still feel like I'm still stuck, but looking back, I've taken a lot of steps to move forward.
One of the biggest decisions that I made was to pursue an MBA. Abroad. Far far away! I guess that sounds idealistic or impossible, but I figured I needed to have space to explore what I really wanted, without family lurking around to drag me back. I spent my 20's being my mom's personal chimay. I'm nearing my 30's but I can't even go to the bank alone without the teller asking why I'm not with my mother. I can't take it anymore. So far, the whole process of agonizing over the GMAT, attending all sorts of information sessions, asking for recommendation letters... it's been slow and tough and uncertain. I'll be ready to submit my first two applications in a few days. That's going to be another agonizing process. I hope by August or September, I'll be ready to pack my bags.
Another milestone this 2015 was the launch of Theater Fans Manila's official website. We finally decided to invest and hire a real website designer. I thought it would be a slightly upgraded blog... but no! There's so many technicalities that I had to wrap my head around. We're working on a better layout to be launched tomorrow. I hope the next year will also bring income to keep our operations going. *hint hint wink wink*
Other notables:
- The Script concert, getting to rub my hands all over Danny O'Donoghue. Actually it was just my left hand.
- Moshpit at a Backstreet Boys concert aka my dream for over 20 years. Getting AJ to greet me a happy birthday even though it wasn't my birthday at all. NICK CARTER.
- High school close friend gave birth to the most adorable baby girl, and in effect, I became a ninang for the first time ever.
- Also got my phone stolen for the first time ever. I still hope that whoever that asshole was, s/he burns in debtors hell.
- New Chowking drama after S' Ferns was moved to a newly created department and we had to start again with a new president who's not from the inside.
- MD of the Year
- Started the year by turning into a One Direction fan. Ended it by turning into a Star Wars geek.
- Being offered Ateneo UAAP tickets by my former dean. #storyofmylife
- FCB TREBLE!!!
Overall, 2015 was about taking independent steps. For the first time, it doesn't feel like this New Year's Eve is equivalent to closing a door. It feels like I'm just rolling along, hopefully gearing up for something better. Crossing my fingers for 2016, I hope this is my year of change.
