Smmmmooooothies...

I've been feeling really awesome lately, at least health-wise, and I'd like to think that at least part of that has to do with the food that I'm eating, or in this case, drinking. I have at least one smoothie a day before I go for a workout, and sometimes I even make enough for afterwards.

Like I said, I love my blender.

Galactic Green Smoothie
4 Pitted dates (it doesn't matter what kind of dates, I use whatever is in my farm delivery every week and they are delicious in this)
3/4 cup apple juice (or really any kind of juice, I've used guava before)
1 large banana
2 cups of pineapple
1/4 cup peanut butter or almond butter
3 cups (or more, if you're feelin' saucy) kale leaves, lightly packed

I tend to throw in frozen grapes in here for sh*ts and giggles, mostly because I like having icy smoothies, but you don't have to do that.

Okay, this next one is kind of crazy, but I drink this one when I'm feeling kind of crappy. I haven't thought of a name for it yet, but it would probably be something like Strawberry Rejuvenation or something, yeah...let's go with that..

Strawberry Rejuvenation
1 scoop (10 g) of Trader Joe's Super Green Drink Powder
1 scoop (10 g) of Trader Joe's Super Red Drink Powder
1 Tbsp / 15 ml coarsely ground flaxseed (this is highly optional, flaxseed is an acquired taste and I can't remember if it's a yes or no for gf people, but I seem to tolerate it ok)
1/4 cup / 60 ml dry oatmeal
1/2 banana
1/3 cup / 80 ml applesauce
Strawberries, mix of frozen and non-frozen
3 cups rainbow kale, lightly packed
1/2 cup / 120 almond milk, soy, hemp milk, whatever kind you want
1/2 cup of orange juice

I don't know why this works so well, but damn it does. I feel like a new person shortly after I drink this, every single time.

Okay, and just so you don't think I'm a complete psycho with all my kale and greens and everything, here's a breakfast smoothie that doesn't have ANY of that:

Morning Wakeup
3/4 cup milk of your choice
3/4 cup orange juice (or any citrus)
3/4 cup frozen cherries, strawberries, peaches or raspberries
1 medium carrot, cut up and chilled
1/4 cup soft tofu

I know, you're like,"wtf, TOFU?" but it give the drink extra body AND it adds extra protein to get you through the day, so ha!
