I am well and truly pissed off at the world, so what better time to do some recs? Yeah, that's what I thought. Anyway, this post evolved into an author theme so I ran with it.

What I Love About janedavitt's Fics: *DROOL* Okay, besides that, what I love about Jane's stuff is the stories that have just that little twist, the something that takes it from good ( Read more... )

Heh. Thanks, but otherwise I forget what I've recced. :P Mostly SG-1 as it is my ongoing obsession, but other stuff pops up you might be interested in! I get on Due South tears on random nights.

We already know I love your icon! Yeah, this one is subtle and somehow tempting. Man, you just want to tip that hat back, don't you?

Although I don't read SG-1, I've been a Jane Davitt fan for years. She's an amazing writer.

She is! Believe it or not, I haven't checked out her other fandom fics. It's on my to do list - any must reads?

Jane writes an incredible assortment of pairings in the Buffyverse, slash and het. If you like Spuffy, for example, her story "A Scent of Water" is a fantastic read.

She writes sex scenes especially well.

I'm just overwhelmed by all the kind, in-depth comments on my fics; thank you so much! ::adds to memories like whoah for when I'm feeling disheartened::

It's odd; if I was asked I'd probably say I fell towards the fluffy, schmoopy end of the fic spectrum but I'm looking at these fics and wondering if I occasionally get possessed or something because, yes, they're on the dark side ::g::

Thank you once again and very glad you enjoyed the stories ::hugs::

It's a darn catchy song and I defy you to say it isn't!

Actually my first two vids were to KP songs; I did a Sam one, too. 'It's just youuuuu, doing the impossible....'

Could not resist ::g::

Hee! I'm glad! Fluffy? Hmm. I can go with that - fluffy like a bunny with a spiked collar and an earring? But, seriously, I wouldn't have said I liked dark fic (and I'm using that term loosely, maybe 'darker edge' would be more appropriate). I'm traditionally anti-angst (and in so the wrong fandom for that!) and pro-crack!fic with happiness, but... Yeah.

Turns out that with some deftly handled irony, bittersweet can be good. It's quite possible the fact that you mentally lean in the direction of fluffy/schmoopy is the grace note on these - another writer might be tempted towards less mercy.

And it is! And so appropriate too! Which is what's so freakin' crazy. I mean Sam, yeah, and I just watched it and I loved it. But Kim Possible = Jack/Daniel? And it works?!?! Oh my god.

But Kim Possible = Jack/Daniel? And it works?!?! Oh my god.

Heheh. I know! Totally bizarre but it was the only choice; I had to do it.

;-))

I just always want them to be happy. I can enjoy a really sad fic (Willamakee - Oh my God how much did I cry with that one?) but I'll rarely read them again because they rip me up emotionally. So if I get an idea for one like that I start with all good (sad) intentions and somehow a loophole or a glimmer of light gets in there.

That works for me! I try to avoid the trully sad - they just devastate me. I need at least a happy-ish ending.

Oh, word, word, totally word! I love Jane's stuff. I'll add Leaving Time, Out of Reach, Stop Me If You've Heard This One... Hmm, a lot of my faves of hers are angsty ones, too. Well, I do love the cuteness of Far and Near, First Time Times Three, In Your Dreams, etc.

Ooo! Thanks! Pushed Into It definitely has a cuteness factor - Daniel's smartass, wide eyed, mock-sincerity (and I can picture that exchange I quoted so well). But then there's:He felt the shock race through the body he was supporting and smiled a little grimly, though his voice sounded gentle enough. "You gave a lot away back there, Daniel."

"So did you."
At which point I begin flailing as I fall out of my chair because it's one damn obtuse comment and it's just the perfect addition!

Heh! Pushed Into It's cuteness has an edge to it. It really is a masterpiece. I have special fondness for it because I betaed, which basically meant that I got a front row seat for seeing that fic just comes out of her brain that brilliant -- I flailed from the first read.

Not to mention a variety of lengths to choose from - hot and cold running procrastination is my specialty.
