It's apparently possible to subluxate a knee and then have the chiropractor adjust it back into place. I've also apparently done it a number of times over the years. Not knowing what it was, and not having had insurance at the time, I ended up walking on it until it finally adjusted itself back into place, which sometimes took months and was stupidly painful in the meantime given the job(s) I was working. This time I had an unnecessary ultrasound of my right leg as the general care practitioner went looking for blood clots to explain the problem, but when that was clear, she referred me to an orthopedics specialist. Fortunately* I ended up seeing the chiropractor first and walked out of the office easier than I walked in. There have been a few more visits and recovering the strength and stability in that knee is ongoing in terms of exercising on it, but it's vastly improved.
*Mostly for my wallet and my stress levels.
So that's excellent! In less great news, my general anxiety levels are... quite high. The fact that I tend to isolate myself in brick space and feel connected to the wider world through social media isn't helping a damn thing at this point because Twitter, Tumblr, et al, are full of the kind of news that I'm currently very, very bad at handling. Filters are great, but they can only do so much when my brain is having trouble with every last bad thing that comes up and especially when there is no corner safe enough from the US election cycle. It is going to be a very, very, very long year.
Relatedly, I had not been planning on putting in much more than a postage stamp garden this year, but that was partly because we were going to be putting up a building in the prime growing season. With the building on hold for various reasons, I'd still been waffling, but talking to D today I realized it's probably pretty crucial to my mental health to have plants to tend this summer and fall. I'm still not doing any extensive planning since that really hasn't worked out well for a few years. The onion plants will be ordered, some pepper plants bought locally, mayyyybe a packet or two or three ordered if there are some varieties I really want to try, but mostly it'll be what I have on hand. I was thinking of buying the tomato plants locally too for about 2 minutes, but that's 5-6 more weeks of watching things grow and fussing over them, so. Gardening. Not actually cheaper than therapy, but there's vegetables.
