Hello, World

May 01, 2011 09:14

I wrote a post on Friday, but the computer eated it. Today I feel like I should say grace on account of the Magical Disappearing Internet Connection actually being up and running. ("Thank you, Lord, for this internet connection we have received...")

I'm still bitterly tired from yesterday, wherein much was accomplished outside, including re-potting tomatoes, hauling mulch, hauling water, and assorted other tasks. Unfortunately, this afternoon there is both a 70% chance of thunderstorms and an outside, surprise birthday party for D's grandmother that is going on come hell or high water. This is, mind you, a surprise birthday party for an older woman who's been in the hospital for a heart condition for the past week. At this point, I don't even know if they finally managed to implant the pace maker yesterday and if she's even been released. You'd think I'd know, wouldn't you? It's just been that kind of week and the verdicts keep changing - not to mention, different people report different things. Crazy family type peoples.

It didn't help that yesterday, after I'd worn myself the hell out and finally sat down, D calls and says, "Can you come pick us up? The truck broke down on the way back from the auction." It ended up involving 7 people - 3 of whom were under 14 - and 3 vehicles, but it only took 2 cans of diesel to get the truck back home. Something about it possibly being the new fuel injection. (There's more that made that a *headdesk* kind of story, but it would take many paragraphs to explain.)

I have a number of things to write about in a catching up sort of way, but brain power has not yet returned to those levels. We will resume your regularly scheduled programming after, um, a bit longer. In the meantime, I'll be not falling asleep at the keyboard until I can take a nap in anticipation of this afternoon's party. Fingers crossed for non-stormy weather, yeah?
