Off the Queue: Weekly Round-Up 10/10 - 10/17

Oct 17, 2009 21:37

These are fics that I'd bookmarked for the reading queue (the "admin:Unread" tag), but have since read. As you wouldn't know unless you specifically went back and looked, here lies a weekly round-up of what I've cleared from my unread tag. :)

.: SG-1 :.

Some Roads (Aren't Meant to be Traveled Alone) | lilyleia78 [Jack/Daniel, R, 2.967 words]
A totally warm and fluffy retirement fic!

Attitude of the Knife | sg_fignewton [Gen, PG, ~2.400 words]
First an explanation: Fig is one of the taggers and part of the editor rotation for sg1_debrief so, despite the fact that she is a total gen fic person and I really don't read too much SG-1 gen fic, I've ended up communicating with her here and there. Round about 1:30 am Friday morning I realized that I was - gasp! - craving gen fic! Trying to read anything with romance was leaving me cold. Well, one of the fics on my queue was this one and I'm very glad I had the link laying around because it was wonderful! Fantastic characterizations, hilarious banter, and a long suffering Jack are only part of what make up this pretty much typical mission for SG-1. ♥

.: Star Trek :.
All STXI unless otherwise noted.

If You Don't Start Drinking (I'm Gonna Leave) | robyanybody [George Kirk/Chris Pike, NC-17, 7.902 words]
George, Chris, bets, Las Vegas, shenanigans - practically a guaranteed combination!

Joyriding and Sonata-allegro | verizonhorizon [Kirk/Spock, R, 2.360 and 3.345 words respectively]
Some beautiful imagery as move from first kiss to something more.

The Orion-on-Vulcan Method | anodyna [Gaila/Spock!Prime, R, 6.929 words]
How can a perky Orion recuperating on New Vulcan not be funny?! Absolutely wonderful. :)

The Truth in Pretending | geenoway [Kirk/McCoy, PG-13, 4.379 words]
Jim's a little slow on the uptake, but he gets there eventually. Warning: May induce a serious case of the warm and fluffies.
