it's great to have an illustration some of the tension and emotional eroding Kakashi's father went through. The series' explanation 'people blamed him so he killed himself' is...a bit short. The sort of scene you describe, multiplied by a few years of that treatment, could drive even a strong man to break down. The knock-on effect on Kakashi is there too. Fortunately, neither this fic's Kakashi, nor the series' Naruto, ever decided to take it out on the village, as they could have. I always imagined that's why Orochimaru went bad; because everybody echoed Ibiki's 'as soon as I saw him I thought he's not human' attitude since he was a kid.
