Y'see.. I'm leaving early tomorrow morning for sunny Florida, where I'll be attending my freshman year at college. Just about everything is packed, and I've got a lot of running to do today to prepare.
I'm still nervous about attending school so far away from home (it's about 1,000 miles away), but I hope that I'll be a little to occupied with the things going on there that I won't miss home so much. I'll be studying for an English major, hoping to become a copy editor.
As it sits now I've been fighting tears for the past week, trying to keep a happy face as everyone tells me how much they'll miss me and "Good luck at college." They keep asking me if I'm excited yet. My textbook answer has been, "I'm more nervous than excited."
There's so much that I don't know about this situation that I'm going into that it has me terrified. I know I have a job on campus when I get there, but I have no idea what I'll be doing. I know I'll have roommates, but I have no clue what they'll be like. Then there's always the fear that I'll do something major that will mess everything up. But, I'm stepping forward to face my fear of failure, and like a bird booted out of the nest, I'll have to learn how to live on my own for the first time.
Anyway, one of the main reasons I wanted to make an entry today is the let those it may concern know that I won't have net access while I'm down there. Well, I take that back, I'll have net access, but it will be very limited. As far as I know, I'll have e-mail but not much else.
So this is sort of a "See you guys when I get the chance." as I won't have free reign of the internet unless it's a rare occasion where I can get off-campus and find a hotspot with my laptop.
