From the
altfriday5:
1. Do you feel happy on a day-to-day basis, in general?
Happiness is such a relative and overused termand concept. But I'll say yes, because even if I rant and rave or meh and whine, in the end I'm an optimist. I think that is what saves me from getting depressed and when I do, it never lasts long. Passivity in these regards bothers me a lot, in others too. I think there's a lot of truth to the saying "You're doing too well" - "Dir gehts zu gut" - too much comfort can make people passive, sometimes aggressive, toward others and themselves. Why do many really wealthy people self-destruct? Certainly not because they "have it so bad"? I also feel that I have seen things in the world that cause me to have no right to sit around and whine about MY really very comfortable life.
2. What are the things currently in your life that make you feel sad in the short term, if any? How much control do you feel you have over changing those things?
Living so far away from my parents in Europe is the main one. There's a 12 hour plane ride that seperates us. It makes me miss them a lot and sometimes I really mourn the fact that I can't just get in the car and zip over for a visit. No control over that, obviously, unless one of us moves - which just might happen eventually. When it does, it will be me, making the trek back to Europe - wheeeee! =)
3. What are the things currently in your life that make you feel unhappy in the long term, if any? How much control do you feel you have over changing those things?
See above.
4. What do you do to make yourself happier in the short term?
Sunlight, good people, good food, letting go of the negative.
