So there are things that clearly speak for the California lifestyle.
Homes/condos/apartments with pools and spas would be one for the plus side, and so is the weather, obviously... The often quoted proximity to beaches, mountains and desert has been a nice bonus, especially for roadtrips. The beach is right here anyway, and if I got in the car now, I'd be in both desert and mountains within an hour or two {depending on which way I'm headed and what you define as such}.
I have enjoyed all 3 over the years and really, really love roadtrips in general. It's one of the all-American institutions that actually appeal to me, and always have. There are few places so perfectly laid out for long roadtrips as this one -- which makes sense, seeing how this country developed, especially out west. Meanwhile though... I've pretty much seen everything there is to see here, not just in Cali but states within a radius such as Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico... and Baja across the border in Mexico. I've been to some of the Hawaiian islands {=love & want to go again} and the Pacific Northwest doesn't really interest me -- there's something about gloomy/rainy/pinetreed locations that isn't really my idea of fun. Even though I must say there are some great rougher beachy places up there that I'd love to visit just to take pictures.
All in all, California *is* a good place to be as far as the USA goes, I think. That is, if you like subtropical climates and don't mind the lack of history out here, hehe.
And since I have a paid account now, there shall be polls!
