“Whatever doesn’t kill you, just makes you stranger.” I have gotten the idea in my head that I want to knit myself a sweater of yarn I’ve spun. I mean cowl, shawl, …sweater that’s the normal process right? Right? I think this will be an adventure for early 2013. That may last a while who knows. I still have to find fiber, Rhinebeck maybe? Get the right amount. Spin, ply, and start sweatering.
So over the next few months I just have to find out some information. For example based on my current stats how much fiber will I need to buy to make a 32/34 worsted or fingering long sleeved sweater. I’m guessing just under a pound for fingering, a little over for worsted. So I think I will start gathering resources and information. One goal will be to see if I will know about how much fiber I will need and purchase just that at Rhinebeck. I will have to choose a pattern to get an idea of yardage.
Some options include:
Grenadine ~1000 yds
Melia ~1300yds
Rocky Coast ~900yds
Tinder ~1200 yards
I know myself, maybe I should spin as close to 1200 yards before insanity sets in then work on a sweater based on my final yardage. Also it might be time to start looking into a spinning wheel. And colors? Black/Purple, Black/Blue, Red/Grey, variegated something in one or all of these colors. Decisions, Decisions.
Okay I just wandered through a few etsy favorites and felt very tempted by Pumpkin Spice Latte by
GnomeAcres Or this grey polwarth by
Threewaters you may notice that these colors are not exactly what I mentioned above. No one is actually surprised right?
