The thing I love about the romance novel format is that it lets me enjoy Jack and Ianto in a context that I normally would avoid-- usually, I don't like fics that get into all the "I love yous" etc, because it's just not how I see them on the show, but when you put them in this situation, playing on a genre that is supposed to be a little bit over the top anyway, it's a lot of fun.

Oh, I totally agree! Canon Jack and Ianto wouldn't be so mushy, but romance novel Jack and Ianto get to run with it. It's a good way to get my ya-ya's out.

You have no idea how much I grinned when I saw that you are continuing this. I loved the Kenya one for the Stopwatch.

This is great!

Oh, I'm so happy to have made you happy. So much better than "Dear Lord, blue wrote another fic. Will someone please shut her up?" :)

No problem. I read these four parts in no time today. It just flowed by so fast. Then I was like Oh I'm done already.

But yes, I love these. It's a great story, and I love how you throw bits of canon information in there here and there. It's great.

oh--i am so excited you are continuing this story--in ghana, no less! i lived for years in neighboring togo, and there are many similarities, culturally. (in fact, my lj name is my african name--it means "girl born on monday" in ewe, which is the language of the ho region of ghana.)

fufu is my absolute fave food from the region (although in togo they do eat it with fish stew, since other kinds of meat can be scarce). delicious! :)

I noticed that there were lots of variations on fufu when i wiki-ed Ghana. The recipe I'll be posting is sweet potato, regular potato, honey, cinnamon, coriander, and butter. It seemed like fufu could be kind of a catch-all dish, though. I hope you like the recipe, when I finally post it!

well, the kind of fufu that i ate the most was pounded ignames (which are just really long tubers), and that is just made with water to make it pasty. it is kind of like sticky mashed potatoes, and we would eat it with a sauce, either a brothy soup, with fish or some other kind of meat, or a peanut sauce, which was my fave. i notice you live in d.c. (as do i), and ghana cafe in adams morgan on 18th street actually has a pretty authentic fufu with peanut sauce (even though they use instant yams to make the fufu).

Instant yams! What are they thinking! :)
I've had a version of fufu in college, but it didn't have yummy sauce. Then when I went to Disney World last fall (I know, getting recipes from Disney -- kind of weird, but wow was the food good) we went to a restaurant for an African buffet and the fufu rocked!
Will have to try Ghana Cafe. I swear, everyone on LJ is in the DC area.

I can't believe there was actual a sequel or Dr. Harkness & Nurse Jones, just last Friday I re-read it and today in twgenrefinders community, someone said "...and yes, there's a sequel in her LJ journal", and I just had to run (online run) to here.
Off to read.

I love how angst-free this is! I can relax while reading and just be happy for Ianto and Jack when they're happy - and moderately worried when something bad happens, while knowing there's a happy ending awaiting... Good for reducing stress ( ... )
