Yuletide 2016
Hi Author-Anon,
This is TEAL DEER like woah, apologies, but I am pretty easy to please; anything that doesn't hit my squicks and has a happy/not-actively-sad ending will be amazeballs, and I'd much rather read something you've enjoyed writing than you trying to fit into my likes. But I've got down some broad 'these things are my catnip' and some broad ideas per fandom (shippy and gen) for what I like. So! Lets kick off.
ALSO: Do not feel like you have to write for all my characters on any of these requests. I've selected Any for a lot of them but that's because choosing is hard, not because I must have them all. Seriously: take your pick, don't hit my squicks, A+ work. I have offered prompts for all of the fandoms to try and make it easier for you if you want guidance.
Generals:
Epistolary fic! Give me feelings over email, text, post-it notes left on computer screens, logs. Love it.
I love pining, and domesticity.
I love found family stuff, so throw in some bffs if that's your thing.
Science/Competence: This is why I love The Martian so much - I adore the competence and everyone sciencing the shit out of everything. Gimme all of that.
I love fics about falling in love, and not necessarily ones with lots of UST or silly people being silly puppies/obliviousness. Curtain!fic, and fic about earning to live with each other, is pretty wonderful. Connecting, man. It is legit. I enjoy love that is bittersweet as well though. Love that is comfortable (or prickly, maybe?) and known but there are bigger things - an apocalypse to avert, space to explore, the knowledge that they will probably cross that bridge eventually, but when they do they may well burn it to the ground (see: my deep and meaningful feelings for Hermann/Newt from Pacific Rim (not in Yuletide, but I figured maybe a good example).
I sometimes like pretentious things. I love hopeful fics, even if the journey is not necessarily easy.
I love poly, because that is falling in love multiplied!
I'm pretty happy with AUs as well, whether it be 'X is a vampire' or more canon divergence (different meetings, fork in the road, etc). Peri/post-apocalypse is always a good shout.
Kinks:
I am happy with any rating of fic, but if you do want to throw in some sex, I'm pretty open. People being into it is the dealbreaker. I want enthusiastic sex, and loving sex, and kinky sex, and awkward sex (where both people find it funny, rather than embarrassing). If you want specifics: Rimming/felching, blowjobs (I have an oral fixation, ok?), first times, fingerfucking.

General: Oh god, pre-canon, post canon, all of it. I ship Watney/Beck and Watney/Martinez. But the friendship they all have is awesome, so pretty much anything with their brand of snarky loyalty would be excellent. Science family in space!

Shippy: Watney/Beck med kink would be excellent; or Mark just enjoying Beck being competent as fuck. Or just, Beck hovering and examining Mark roughly all the time after he gets back on board Hermes. Martinez/Watney would just have a lot of fun, you know? That sort of snark covering a layer of ohgodyoualmostdiedwtf is my kryptonite. For femslash, I loooove the idea of Annie and Mindy. Mindy hero-worshipping Annie, and Annie taking Mindy under her wing if you will.
Gen:
The crew on training, or suffering the inevitable press tour when they get back to earth. The story of them getting their matching tattoos. I adore Annie; I love how snarky and sharp she is. I also loved how Mindy 1) hero-worshipped her and 2) definitely got more snarky as the book progressed, so I'd definitely love to see these two interact.
Rich Purnell is a legend, and I'd happily read anything about him - maybe post-canon interactions with Mark (I imagine they'd either get on really well or be really confused by each other). Or the aftermath; this ridiculous man being accosted by the media?
Venkat. Poor, wonderful Venkat. Maybe he could get a good night's sleep? I do think he and Annie are actually BFFs and would definitely drink together in the aftermath when they can't wind down because they've not slept in months and they've forgotten how to.
Ghostbusters 2016:
Characters requested: Erin Gilbert, Abby Yates, Patty Tolan, Jillian Holtzmann. Note, I don't have specific prompts for all characters, but the general prompts cover what I'd like to see here.
!!!! I adored this film. I want comedy and ghostbusting. I pretty much am happy with any ship or gen on this.
Shippy:
Holtz and Patty are my faves re:shipping, but lets be real, if you wanted to write casual poly between the four of them (with occasionally deep meaningful moments between Abbie and Erin? I AM OKAY WITH THIS).
Gen:
I am okay with a film night with Holtzman loudly complaining/theorising about the science, or Patty pointing out how the geographical layout makes no sense. Prank calls around Halloween? The crew having to split up as so many people are calling them now and having to deal with being apart for a bit?

Okay, so again, loved this film.

Ava/Kyoko. I was kind of disappointed this film didn't end with lesbian robots on the run, so anything around that would be amazing. Or Ava and Kyoko falling in love during the film/pre-film, sneaking around behind Nathan's back. Do AI get jealous? Of Nathan or of Caleb?
Gen:
Happy with the above without shippiness! Or anything that takes your fancy in this canon. AI learning is fascinating to me, so pre-canon would be awesome. Maybe Kyoko helping Ava get to know herself when she is first powered up?

Hera: What does she know? What does she do when the crew sleeps?
Minkowski: What exactly is the path for her to become captain? She was rejected from NASA and then picked up be this
Lovelace: Tell me something about Loveless' time trying to escape, or something pre-canon, when she was on the crew the first time around. Her relationship with Hilbert pre-canon, and now, post-canon.
Hilbert: Hilbert fascinates me, he clearly gives a damn, but is kind of amoral about it all? And he's had some shit go down in his past.
Maxwell is amazing, and I love her? If I had ships here, a fair few of them would revolve around Maxwell (Hera, Lovelace, Eiffel, Minkowski?). What shit has she had to put up with to get where she is? Does she secretly have a fuckton of information on people that she's 'liberated' from hard drives across Goddard?
Kepler: Whisky drinking Machiavelli come mercenary. How do you get this far in Goddard? How much Whiskey do you need in space anyway?
Jacobi: Anyone who wants to make things explode is a fave of mine. I really like the moments he has with Kepler and Maxwell. They've obviously worked together before, and know each other somewhat. If I had a ship, I'd probably ship him with Kepler
Cutter: This guy creeps me the hell out and I love it. Just him creeping all over the place would be perfect. Does he and Minkowski have a past given his familiarity with her (calling her Renee constantly)?
