Dear Yuletide writer
Hi Author-Anon,
This is TEAL DEER like woah, apologies, but I am pretty easy to please; anything that doesn't hit my squicks and has a happy/not-actively-sad ending will be amazeballs, and I'd much rather read something you've enjoyed writing than you trying to fit into my likes. But I've got down some broad 'these things are my catnip' and some broad ideas per fandom (shippy and gen) for what I like. So! Lets kick off.
Generals:
Epistolary fic! Give me feelings over email, text, post-it notes left on computer screens, logs. Love it.
I love pining, and domesticity.
I love found family stuff, so throw in some bffs if that's your thing.
Science/Competence: This is why I love The Martian so much - I adore the competence and everyone sciencing the shit out of everything. Gimme all of that.
I love fics about falling in love, and not necessarily ones with lots of UST or silly people being silly puppies/obliviousness. Curtain!fic, and fic about earning to live with each other, is pretty wonderful. Connecting, man. It is legit. I enjoy love that is bittersweet as well though. Love that is comfortable (or prickly, maybe?) and known but there are bigger things - an apocalypse to avert, space to explore, the knowledge that they will probably cross that bridge eventually, but when they do they may well burn it to the ground (see: my deep and meaningful feelings for Hermann/Newt from Pacific Rim (not in Yuletide, but I figured maybe a good example).
I sometimes like pretentious things. I love hopeful fics, even if the journey is not necessarily easy.
I love poly, because that is falling in love multiplied!
I'm pretty happy with AUs as well, whether it be 'X is a vampire' or more canon divergence (different meetings, fork in the road, etc). Peri/post-apocalypse is always a good shout.
Kinks:
I am happy with any rating of fic, but if you do want to throw in some sex, I'm pretty open. People being into it is the dealbreaker. I want enthusiastic sex, and loving sex, and kinky sex, and awkward sex (where both people find it funny, rather than embarrassing). If you want specifics: Rimming/felching, blowjobs (I have an oral fixation, ok?), first times, fingerfucking.

General: Oh god, pre-canon, post canon, all of it. I ship Watney/Beck, mostly, also Watney/Martinez. But the friendship they all have is awesome, so pretty much anything with their brand of snarky loyalty would be excellent. Science family in space!
Specifics:
Shippy: Watney/Beck med kink would be excellent; or Mark just enjoying Beck being competent as fuck. Or just, Beck hovering and examining Mark roughly all the time after he gets back on board Hermes. Martinez/Watney would just have a lot of fun, you know?
Gen: The crew on training, or suffering the inevitable press tour when they get back to earth. The story of them getting their matching tattoos. I adore Annie; I love how snarky and sharp she is. I also loved how Mindy 1) hero-worshipped her and 2) definitely got more snarky as the book progressed, so I'd definitely love to see these two interact. Rich Purnell is a legend, and I'd happily read anything about him - maybe post-canon interactions with Mark (I imagine they'd either get on really well or be really confused by each other). Or the aftermath; this ridiculous man being accosted by the media?
Venkat. Poor, wonderful Venkat. Maybe he could get a good night's sleep?

Shippy: Okay, so I have no OTP ships here - I am open to all pairings! Including poly ships. Like, Charles/Jake, Any combo of Gina/Rosa/Amy. I kind of ship Jake/Holt but I also adore the relationship between Ray and Kevin, so Ray/Kevin/Jake seems the obvious choice here.
Charles making Jake the perfect meal. Rosa showing up to one of Gina's dance performances.
Gen: Case fic, cold cases. How they spend their off-time. Terry and Charles talking food. Gina and Ray taking the same dancercise class. Gina teaching Ray's dancercise class.

General: I want to know more about how their powers affect the sense8es in their day to day life.
Specifics:
Shippy: I am up for all ships here - canon, non-canon, poly between sense8tes and/or non-sense8tes. I adore Hernando and Lito together. I love Lito's overdramatic-ness and Hernando's more quiet silliness. Amanito/Nomi are just brilliant kicking ass together. I love how fierce and passionate they both are. Angelica/Jonas pre-canon! Them on the run, or how they met, and realised the sense8 thing?
Gen: Which one is the good cook and makes sure they buy the best fresh vegetables? I'd be up for someone sciencing the crap out of their connections to see where the boundaries are, and becoming more proficient at their powers.
And the non cluster members like Hernando, Amanita, and Amanita's mum, etc. how do they deal with this in every day life? They have to get used to their loved ones just randomly starting new conversations, maybe making excuses for them, just dealing with this new deep connection.
If you want to write about Whispers, Jonas, or Yrsa, I'd love some pre-canon theorising on their complex connections. I'd love some BPO theorising - what do they do, why, how, etc. How Yrsa ended up going against BPO - was she always protecting sense8tes from them or did she work for BPO then went rogue when she found out they were evil?
The Man from UNCLE
Characters requested: Illya Kuryakin, Napoleon Solo, Gaby Teller
General: This film, I just adore found family, and stylised cinematography, so this hit my id pretty much dead on. Illya, Napoleon, and Gaby are great and flawed together - I love the spiky edges and grudging respect and live saving.
Specifics:
Shippy: Man, I love the snarky begrudging respect thing. Spies with issues in love, y/y?
Gen: Found family. Training montages! The guys teaching Gaby languages, and Gaby teaching them how to hotwire a car in the most effective fashion
