Finally done with my turn in hng_deathmatch. In case you haven't figured it out by now, this is Gwen Kley about to make long expository notes about her two entries, including bonus stuff, and randomosity.
Fail!entry no1: atari
I had many plans for the atari theme, primarily ideas involving Shindou and silliness. I like my Shindou served with a bit of silly! The original plans involved paper children and my go board, but that plan failed miserably because everyone will know I did it, and by then I didn't want the secret to be out so soon!
Here were some trial paper children drawings. Touya and Shindou are so cute! *w*
Woke up the day of the deadline with no idea what to do. Lucky for me I was sleeping in my sister's room and spotted the pinky:st collection. We've always wanted to make a random photoshoot by using different parts to make up characters from Hikaru no Go, and it was a perfect opportunity! The results, are, as they say, history:
my entry of yore.
The extra involving Mitani and Shindou's not!date with Akari.
It's not a date!
A couple of bonus shots. Boy!Mitani and girl!Kishimoto.
Boyband!Touya and rocker!Shindou
Fail!entry no 2: the mini-FSTs of doom
Let me just say that there was always an epic plan in my head to chronicle my Ogata/Shirakawa in a long, involved FST spanning hours of music. That has not happened because I haven't done my long, involved story involving Ogata and Shirakawa yet. (PHAIL!!!1) When I saw the theme high-fidelity I knew I was going to do something music related, as the other theme just didn't strike a chord with me.
Also, mediafire download! :D
Ogata's was the easiest FST to come up with. I had an idea to use Nobody does it better way back, and I was pretty set with having a Grace Jones song in the mix. You sexy thing went head-to-head vs. This Charming Man, but then I decided that the former was much more amusing. Last, I needed a serious, melancholy song because around 30 percent of Ogata's scenes involve him moping or just emo over his rivals. I tried Yasushii Ishii's
Requiem of the Living first, then found my collection of Radioactive Sago Project songs.
Sai I wanted to leave for later because I had an idea to use primarily instrumental music for him, and I was in search of all my guqin music. Shindou's was a bit more complicated. I wanted upbeat songs, and went through my collection of Fake? and Beat Crusaders. Lucky I have the Nano-Mugen 2006 compilation in repeat on my playlist, so I found Stereoman and decided it fits. The original plan involved Dragon Ash's Under Age Song, but I couldn't find the lyrics to it. By chance I saw the lyrics and translation to Battle Royale's ending theme, and decided to stick in in. Kemuri was something Ariri-nee left for me that I thought would fit the rivals! idea, but I couldn't fit in another FST D: So I went with it. Ariri-nee is also the source of Flumpool's wonderful last song!
Sai's song mix was also a tad more difficult. I had to go through all the guqin music I can find to finally settle for - Zhonqui Yue. it was short, and sad, and had a story about being about viewing the far off moon from a mountain. More can be read at John Thompson's
website. Depapepe was originally planned for Shindou, but I decided to switch it into Sai's because there's that happy feeling that Sai has when it comes to the daily life. Vanilla Mood was also pretty much a default for Sai. I liked their song Haku, but decided to go look for a more suitable one, and found Shizuku. The third song in the FST took the longest to find. I wanted an EPIC song and I went through several game OSTs, but none went through. An old Hagaren FST led to Ninkou Latora from Cirque du Soleil, one of my most favorite things. And the rest, as they say, was done.
Touya's was very difficult, and the one I will not be satisfied with. I had an idea of a rival!song as well, and then a happy song to represent how he is with Shindou, but none of the songs in the playlist fitted him. Kryptonite was a song that I usually use for rivals, and then Inner Smile is probably the happiest song I can find which was actually used on a HikaGo AMV!The first song, You are a runner and I am my father's son gave off a very closed feeling, that was similar to the impressions I got for him in the beginning. The third song, Call and Answer, would be the weakest in the FST. I don't even want to discuss how I came up with it, as it was more intuition rather than careful thought.
Even the cover was a battle of mr, not quite right, not quite wrong EITHER. Here, have the
first cover and
the one I drew. See what I mean? Lucky one of the chapter covers looked pretty with the empty, blank space, and I did through it.
Final version. (WHEW!)
By the time I finished this, and realized that we went straight to the semis, skipping the quarter finals. I kinda. FROZE. My mind was a blank most of the days even when I was still on paid leave. D: So by that time I decided that if I don't get the plan on paper, I'm pretty much gonna default! And I don't really mind defaulting EVEN IF I LOST THE RIGHTS TO THE HAREM because Seven's pretty awesome, and I just knew Mickey and Mariposa would win! :D
I'm sorry if this has turned into a remarkable tl;dr post! I just hope that you don't mind if I spazzed a lot! ^^; I'll make a betting pool post re-cap once I'm all good. Also, this entry took forever to post! I had to manually copy paste the whole thing because of a weird encoding error. Huh!
