honey, let me sing you a song...

It's raining outside and I'm drinking a glass of wine while listening to Joy Valencia's new song, "If You Love Me." Seemed like the perfect opportunity to write an entry that wasn't so melodramatic it made you want to gouge out your eyes.

Life has been (more or less) fabulous lately. Since I'm in such a great mood, I'll get the "less" out of the way first. If you're keeping up you know all about the mom issues; but my grandfather has also been in the hospital for the past two weeks. It's been hard and there were a few times where we weren't sure which direction he was headed, but he seems to be out of the woods for now and is actually on his way back home today. I'm worried about my grandmother taking care of him since she tends to neglect herself in looking after him, but home is where she wants him and that's where he wants to be. When it comes down to it, they don't have many years left and I think their happiness is what matters.

Work has been great, as usual. I had a minor ripple in the waves at the beginning of this week due to errors on my part, but luckily for me I have an awesome boss who was a)completely understanding of my mistakes and b)able to smooth everything over. We're having a company picnic this weekend, I think the best thing will be seeing my boss in something other than a suit. I might pass out from shock. And, of course, seeing everyone from my old branch will be awesome as well.

This past weekend was a great friend-filled few days. Friday night I had Annie, Dee and Lesley over for a girls' night. We ate junk food, drank wine, watched a chick flick, and gossiped. Dee and Annie crashed at my house and the next morning the three of us had breakfast at Cracker Barrel. They left after that and I napped a little before going to Ashland City to see my grandfather. I watched the first half of the Titans' pre-season game with him and commentated since he can't see what's happening. Around 9:30 I headed over to Emily's house. We did much the same thing as I had done the night before... wine, music, gossip. Crashed there, had breakfast at Waffle House the next morning, then came back home. Sunday was just cleaning and errands day, and I went to the gym that night. Logan called as I was heading into the gym to let me know he was passing through town and wanted to go get dinner, so we met up and ate at T.G.I.Friday's. Then, to carry over that feeling of the weekend, Josh and I went to the Wilson County Fair Monday night. Charlie Daniels Band was playing, but the best part was the animals. Camels, zebras, and goats in petting zoos... and then there were the races. Pig races, duck races, and... monkeys on dogs races. No need to refresh the screen, you read that right. Only in Tennessee.

The rest of this week I'm just taking it easy... paid all my bills so I've got money for groceries and not much else! But I've finally realized that being able to pay my bills on time every month makes me feel a lot better than a new outfit. Besides, I've decided if I can stick with this gym routine and lose a significant amount of weight, I'll definitely deserve a shopping spree.

Oh, and there's this boy... yeh, right. You really thought I was going to dish? I've learned my lesson. :)
