In the grand scheme of things

In the grand scheme of things,
Time will fade our memories
Why then, what does it matter if I feel like a fool
Or failed yet another time?
Does it matter what you think
Or what has happened
Or that you’re avoiding me, and I’m avoiding you
Since in the grand scheme of things,
People come, and people go
Where 20 years later, I’ll simply remember this with a chuckle?

If in the grand scheme of things
All roads lead to nowhere
Being schooled for the past two decades
Was only to prepare me for the laborious toil ahead
I see no fruits of my education
Was there ever one?
Remnants of consciousness, some here or there
As they say, jack of all trades, master of none
Is this all that there is?
The future’s blurred
I must have lost my way
But it’s fine
Let things be this way

In the grand scheme of things,
Who do I live for?
Guilt grips me like the disciplinary hand
Sigh, this tires me
Just flip a coin and decide

If in the grand scheme of things,
Life is short and it’s all for experience,
Is this collection of experiences: an illusion of a richer life?
This thing.. which warms my heart
Lifts my spirit, carries me in splendor
Can it be found?
Does it even exist in the first place?

Then again in the grand scheme of things, I should just shut up and go back to studying..
I think exams will still matter. So much for thinking in the grand scheme of things..
