Lots of updates! Huzzah!
I'm very grateful that I've gotten the opportunity to costume for an interpretive dance performance for the Philly Fringe Festival! It's September 9th and 10th at 9:30 pm at the Painted Bride Art Center.
www.pafringe.com/details.cfm I'm not actually doing the costumes for GOLD, their main performance, but I'll be working on Happy Inside and Meteorologica. Each one deals with something completely different.
Happy Inside deals with the little things that make us happy from day to day. Even when times are bad, we have that one little thing that will make us smile. : ) I've been told that I have complete creative control with this one, and I get to check out the performance on Friday to see what it will actually look like. I'm so excited!
Meterologica has a lot to do with the artists fascination with the weather and the passion that meteorologists have for following it. (I think). I'm a little fuzzy on the details with this one, but the director said that she wanted a very simple pant and shirt combo for this one. I'll know more about how it'll look once I see the dancer and hear the music. So I'm completely and utterly excited to start work on this. : )
Ren Faire Dress update: Very close to completion. I'll be spending a lot of time on it today. I've been spending hours making sure the cord looks perfect and will hopefully be finished with that today. I'm hoping to have it pretty much finished by Friday since I'll have to start work for the dance company then. The corset won't be finished but that's something I can make sure is completed the week after the show and can easily be mailed. My main concern is the dress and getting that completed to the best of my ability.
Hopefully there'll be time for a photo shoot with everything and I'll be able to post some mega awesome pics! : )
Bevor Gorget update: Still haven't figured out the issue with it and won't be working on it again until after Dana's things are finished, but I'm optimistic that it will look amazing!
Otherwise I'm hoping to work on two outfits for October for Obscura at QXT's on October 17th
www.obscuraculture.com/ and for the Brooklyn Indie Market Steampunk II on October 24th which will both be full of awesome goodness. The outfits may be part of Golden Gothic, but most probably will not as I'm helping with them and do not wish to step on the toes of the designer I'm helping. I simply want to be part of the fabulousness that will be going on. : )
See you next time space cowboy.
