Master Table

The first time Travis dropped acid with his friends, the world was twenty billion different colours, breathing and he could hear through his mouth. Then he passed out on his little brother's bed and slept till noon the next day. It truly was a trip that he would never forget.

The second time was many years later, after he'd moved out of his parents house and into the dorms nearly a thousand miles away. The world was still those vibrant colours, but his roommates weren't as careful as his friends and he wandered out of the room and after that it was a blur. When he woke up, he had no idea where he was and his head ached.

He looked around and surveyed the room and noticed its sparse interior decoration. The only thing that made him think someone lived there was the miniature shrine around the guitar in the corner. Travis sat up in the bed, knowing he'd done something really stupid.

His clothes were still on, thankfully, but his shoes and socks were gone. When he peered over the side of the bed, he found them sitting there at the edge of the bed. He quickly moved and toed on his shoes, stuffing his socks in his pants pocket. He heard some shuffling from behind the closed door and cautiously left the safety of the bed to check it out. He turned the knob and curiously looked out to the living room.

“You're awake?”

Travis almost jumped out of shoes as a shadow appeared in the doorway. “Oh, uhm, yeah. I guess I am.” He pulled open the door a little more.

The man he found behind the door was tall with brown hair and eyes. He smiled. “I thought you'd be passed out longer.”

Travis sighed and rested against the door. “What'd I do?”

“Do you really want to know?”

“Not really. I'm sorry for whatever trouble I put you through.” He trailed off.

“Justin.”

“Travis.”

“I know, but I have to tell you, though. You're probably not welcome at Last Exit for a while.”

“Oh God.” He rubbed his hands through his hair.

“Yeah, it was pretty bad. I thought I'd get you out of there before you did any permanent damage.”

This was all really awkward. He didn't even know this guy and they were talking like they were best friends. “Do I need to, like, pay you for anything I broke, man?”

“Nah. You didn't break anything. But you certainly get grabby when you're high.”

Travis' cheeks bloomed with red. “Seriously?”

“Oh yeah. That's why I shut the door.”

He was now standing in the doorway. “Dude, I'm so sorry for whatever I did.”

Justin shrugged. “Not like I cared. I knew you were high. Must've been good, huh?”

If it was possible, Travis felt his cheeks turn redder. “I guess.”

“You're cute anyway, so it's not like I was complaining.” He turned to head to the kitchen area.

Travis could only gape.

Table/Prompt: Size Matters - Strawberries (Drabble - 100 words)

With her face pressed against the case, she pointed out different chocolates, asking for extra strawberry. He was sent back.

Back to shaggy blond hair and blue eyes. The slide of smooth skin against scratchy motel sheets. Rough calloused fingers drifting over his shoulder and down his back while strawberry red lips upturned in a coy smile. Back to promises of forever.

He returned when he felt a tug to his sleeve and looked down at his daughter. She smiled up at him. He felt the tiniest twinge of regret, but shook it off as he handed over the twenty.
