Recently I made an image to go along with my twilight obsession.
Since i didn't take screen shots as I did this one, i decided to recreate it. It is very similar but with making your own background with brushes and filters you can't guarantee the same exact patterns. So here is a photoshop tutorial that shows you how to add different images together, use opacity and create a simple background.
Step 1
I opened up all the images that I wanted to use. I also opened up the finished product.
Step 2
I guess its a couple of steps but they are simple. I opened a new document and filled the background with a solid color. Edit -> Fill will do this. Then I selected a new color to use with my paintbrush and then selected the paint brush I wanted.
Step 3
I then fill in my bg with the brush. I left some black to give it more contrast.
Step 4
I then added the filter "angled layers".
Step 5
I select the area of the picture that I want. This one was easy. I just used the magic wand tool to select the black area. And then after adding the letters into my selection. To add another selection without losing your previous one you press down the shift key while you select your area. Then I went to select -> inverse to get my image.
Step 6
Then with the arrow tool selected I just dragged the picture onto my pre-made background pic.
Step 7
Then by going into my layers pallet I brought down the opacity to give it a see through look.
Step 8
Since my second pic had a lot of similar colors, using the magic wand tool to select what I wanted wasn't going to work. So first I dragged the whole thing onto my new picture.
Step 9
For this one I will have to use the magnetic selection tool
Step 10
I drew around the edges of the image that i wanted to get rid of. I also used a feather of 2 pixels to make a softer edge.
Step 11
With the area I want to get rid of selected i pressed delete and got rid of all that black.
Step 12
Then I added my text. In this pic you can see the new one on the left compared to the old one on the right.
