Photoshop Tutorials

So I've decided that I'm going to make tutorials for the things I do in photoshop, hense the title of this entry. I'm doing this because I would like to know how I do somethings sometimes, so that I can repeat the process later. Also if it helps anyone else out that could be cool too. In this tutorial I used photoshop elements 2.0. An old and a very easy to use version. I would like to get at least cs on this comp, but this will do for now. The places are different from where they will be found in the full versions of photoshop, but the names are the same for the most part. I'm sure they have gotten rid of some features that this one has.

So in this one I just made a simple rendering from a picture and added text. I wasn't doing this for any particular reason. I was just fooling around.

Step 1
Open up any picture you would like to use

Step 2
Add effect Horizontal Color Fade

Step 3
We are going to manually adjust the light levels. I don't remember where to find this in the CS versions, but it exists. It will be labeled "levels...". You want this one instead of auto levels to get the right effect according to what you prefer. Then just drag the triangles to desired light levels.

Step 4
Add text and a drop shadow to make the words pop more.

Step 5
Adding a simple color border is easy. Just select all of your background layer, it won't work on text layers. Then go under edit and select stroke. Then choose your color and pixel thickness.
