Weekly Whinge 13 Mar 2008
It's been pretty awesome having J around. She cooks for me, which is very nice. We've also gone out to eat a few times, various fast food places, the sushi joint in Slidell (pretty decent), and Lee's Hamburgers, which was rather good.
J and I went to Gamer's Edge, the gaming store in Slidell. It's a big empty room with a few computers in the back, one glass case with Yu-Gi-Oh! cards in it, and a few schmucks playing Yu-Gi-Oh! or Naruto or some other vaguely-anime-based card game. Discouraged, we left.
Last weekend in New Orleans was fantastic, and it was great to see all of the other YAVs. We had a great time bowling and shooting each other in laser-tag. On that Saturday, we wandered through the French Quarter and then along the uncool parts of Magazine Street.
We're going to be back in New Orleans this weekend, Friday night - Sunday morning. We're going to hit the cool part of Magazine Street this time, and... well, whatever else we can do. Maybe hit up La Divina again, I dunno. Something. And then I have to take her to the airport early Sunday morning so I can be back in Slidell in time for handbell performance at church.
I'm still despairing a little about jobs for next year. I got my first rejection letter, for a secretary position. Seriously, if I'm not well-enough qualified for a job that requires only a B.A. and the ability to type 40 words per minute, there is no hope for me in anything. I guess I'm not self-motivated or whatever enough to get or want a good job anywhere. I guess I can always bag groceries at Safeway.
