Weekly Whinge 06 April 2008

It's summertime and the living is easy. As far as I can recall, it's been an uneventful week here. I did have a performance evaluation this week. I'm doing a great job and the website looks good, but I need to clean the tool area more often. Sure, whatever. I asked for more work since I'm not always busy here, and they said they'd think about it. I might be asked to put together a newsletter, which I assume will be written entirely by volunteers since I don't have a clue as to what's happening out at the work sites, but I don't know yet. We'll see. As I've written here before, I don't mind being underworked since it gives me more time for my job search for next year.

A job search which has been entirely fruitless so far. I /still/ need to piece together my 'functional' resume, which I'll try to do tonight or tomorrow. Most government jobs look for the chronological resume, but I can probably get away with a functional resume for the non-profits et al I'm thinking about applying to, since a functional resume promotes my skills and experiences and diminishes my lack of a work history. Maybe I'll employ some discernment methods for the long-term, but for the short-term I'll take anything I can get above baby-butcher, sewer-licker, and testicle donor.

I went to the New Orleans Zephyrs game last night with my bosses and a co-worker. It was an alright time. The Zephyrs' mascot is 'Boudreaux', who is a nutria. I don't know what a nutria is, but Boudreaux looks kinda like a tailless beaver. I don't feel so bad about Louisville's baseball team's lame name, the Bats. The game was pretty uneventful -- I think there were only about 6 or so hits on either side, and lots of batters simply struck out. The Zephyrs beat the Nashville Sounds (what's their mascot? a giant eighth note?) 2-0, so that was nice.
