[A soft thumping sound of small feet moving over a wooden floor. The screen flickers, then turns on as a small boy, five or six, backs away from the PCD, hands out as if he's just steadied it. The close-cropped dark-blonde hair and greyish-gold eyes seem familiar, but it's not quite clear until he smiles that the child is Alphonse Elric.]
It's not scary, okay? Don't be scared!
... I'll make you smile.
[Al hops over a small, chalk-drawn
transmutation circle on the floor, and drags over a pan holding what looks like sand, ashes, and a few small broken objects. He tips the pan over in the center of the circle, making sure everything stays in the center and none of the lines are smudged.
The little boy takes a deep breath and puts his hands to the array. After a moment it begins to glow with a soft yellow light, illuminating the room. Those who have seen Al transmute things before will note that this is unusual -- the light from his transmutations is usually blue.
The ashes and the sand begin to twist, as if something alive is attempting to crawl out of it. For a moment it looks like a face, and then more features start to form. The transmutation takes several minutes. When it's done, a small
pigtailed rag doll is sitting in the center of the array. It's a little lopsided and battered, and looks very much like a child made it, but the little mouth is smiling.
The tiny uneven button eyes aren't black, they're colored.
... one is green, one is blue.]
