I can has you in love with me y/y?
So, to my professional writing friends - what do you usually do with the money you get for your writing?
The reason I still love getting paid for my writing, why it never gets old, is that from the first time, I vowed I would never use the money for paying off bills.
It would go straight back into my art - and so I've always used it for books, music, films, notebooks, festivals, photographs and all the other things that inspire me. I have another job for paying bills: artmoney goes straight back into art.
Yesterday I bought four films - Benzina, La Luna, Death Proof and Crash and I felt great about it because they were paid from the money I got from the last reading I gave.
Furthermore I've signed a deal saying I'll be writing a complete poetry anthology on a real cool theme from now till January. And I'm going to e-mail the painter I met some time ago to talk about a meeting to practice/see what we can do in his gallery/workplace. If things go well, I want to get a stand for us at the Boulevard Festival next year. (I'll be there this year too, on the 9th, don't know exactly where yet, but it'll be very short.) And of course there's the secret thing. :) My literary/art-life is going amazingly well, why d'you ask?
