Huskies are somewhat like cats in dogsuits... Aside from their innate bred-in desire to run, they love jumping up on and climbing over high things (the more challenging the better, they seem to think - a 6ft fence to some is a breeze) and are unfortunately very good at it (which, in addition to their independent intelligence, make them terribly excellent escape artists... sigh).
I can tell you numerous stories of my own Sibes and their fence escaping abilities... Delilah and Sita never escaped just for the fun of it, but there were a few occasions when Delilah saw a rabbit and off she went over a 5 foot fence in pursuit of it and nearly gave me a heart attack each time. There was a very busy road the next house over, but I had trained her with a "wait" command while on walks to never cross the street unless I gave her the ok, and thank god she actually adhered to it even when pursuing said rabbit! Sita was a curious pup and at just a few months old, she climbed over the same fence one day and I was so relieved to find her clinging to the other side and distraught, trying to get back to her mom (she never did it again). My aunt had to place electrical wire (used for livestock - it delivers a small and safe, very discouraging shock... I've had the pleasure of experiencing it numerous times xp) around the tops and bottoms of her pack enclosures to deter her own Sibes from digging out or in the case of Sita's dad Nicki, climbing out. It's definitely the best method for keeping these Houdinis inside even tall fences, but I'm not sure if it's possible to use it outside of a rural area.
Back on topic, my girls were well behaved in the house but I've certainly heard the tales of other owners who have caught their huskies "counter-surfing" to their heart's desire. Looks like it'd probably be easy for this guy to jump up on the counter and then jump from there onto the top of the fridge should he want to... But of course it's possible somebody put him up there too, as you said (if so, that's awful). But I don't want you to discount their evil abilities for one second... that's how they trick you. ;) There are plenty of intelligent non-huskies out there equally capable of such shenanigans of course (I've dealt with many at work, believe me - many of which are pits or mixes) and it never ceases to amaze me what such dogs are capable of. But for a breed as a whole, huskies are particularly notorious for it and are one of the few breeds that actually come with a direct warning label for it. xp
