A bad economy, a Good God

Genesis 30:25- 31:3
Here we see, for the first time in a while, Jacob practicing the faith he claims to have. He sees that he is being conned by his father in law and he is tired of it. He desires to move away and make his own living under God's blessing. He and Laban come to an agreement in which he would work a little while longer while aquireing some of his own welth to get him started and on his way. However Laban still takes advantage of him and cheats him. Through all of it though, God is still there and still in conroll and blessess him even in the hard circumstances he faces. Today we are facing similar circumstances in which many people are strugglimg to make it in a poor economy. The only thing to say is that God is still in control. He owns everything and can distribute it as he wills. The problem with worrying about the economy is that it is an act of worship. Not to God but to money itself. Its ironic how the dollar bill says in God we trust on it but it is really the dollar bill that we put our trust in. Jesu tells us that we cannot be a lover of both God and money. Where is your heart? If you know who you are following you can take comfort in the assurance that he will provide for you.
