Nine Points of the Havamal, or 'Sayings of Odin'

Apr 12, 2020 18:16

1. Be mentally (Hugr), physically (Lik), and spiritually (Od) prepared to Defend your loved ones. The Spear is not only an actual weapon, but is invocative of Tiwaz or Tyr, the Martial God of the Northlands, and is symbolic of Truth, Transcendence, Vigor, Prowess, and Mental Clarity.

2. Practice Moderation with your food and drink.

3. Exercise sound Hygenic practices.

4. Gaurd against Evil. Evil is defined by the names of the Etins or Evil Ones, which are of course negative ennegrams such as Hati or Hatred.

5. Champion the Good. Good is defined by it's "Yin / Yang", or the Gods and Goddesses, as well as all of the Masculine and Feminine Virtues they embody. See 'Virtues of the Havamal'.

6. Seek the Mystery through the Tree, the symbol of our Reality and Ultimate Truth or the Eternal.

7. Drink of Heart-Wisdom or Love, as Mimir / Minni / Muninn translate as 'Heart', "Imagination', 'Memory', 'Wisdom', and 'Love'. It's deepest manifestation is known as the Soul (Sal), hence "having Heart and Soul".

8. The Nine Lays of Power is a Poetic Gate through which Power is summoned from the Nine Worlds through Understanding of how the Man Ash is a reflection of the Nine Worlds within the World Ash from which he was shaped by Od (Exhalted), Ond (Spirit Breath), and Hamingja (Power of Imagination).

9. When the Nine Lays of Power are mastered one attains Poetic Understanding of the workings of the "I" and is able to apprehend the meanings of the 18 Galdors*.

*Note that the Havamal was known to the Primitive Norse, and that the Elder Futhark had 18 Consanant which were fused with the 6 vowels, tapping into a mysterious Spiral Force, known as Kundilini in Yoga, and the Fylgia in our own practice, often thought of as a Valkyrie and rescued from a Dragon, representing Spiritual Renewal and the attainment of Unity between the Masculine and Feminine, or Marriage.

In most "Arctic Magic" practices the Nine Dimensional Model as a source of Elemental Power as well as a Gateway to the Realms of the Gods, Giants, Dead, Hungry Ghosts, and various Animistic Powers is prelevant in the syncretic Dzogchen practices which fuse Vajrayana (Thunderbolt Vehicle) and Bon.

This Nine Dimensional Model creates Nine Major Energy Centers and 24 Pathways (33 Zones) within the body in the Arctic Buddhist / Shamanistic practices and finds close correspondence with the Eddaic Tradition in the Northlands.
