So my parents are taking me to the Christmas program at the Broadmoor this year, which is a fancy-schmancy 5 star hotel in the old-money (and lots of it) part of Colorado Springs. Dress code is semi-formal, and while i have several nice dresses, the only one I have on the "fancy schmancy" side is the full-skirted-ball-gown strapless monstrosity that I wore to my friend's wedding back in July. Which is, incidentally, now way too large for me after having lost 35 pounds. *does a happy dance* *gets back to the point*
So my mom took me shopping at a department store known for its excellent selection of fancy schmancy gowns. I tried on several, one of which was the next size down from where I'm at now, which is about two sizes down from where I was. And the one that's the next size down actually fit! It wasn't the most flattering through the stomach (which is my worst area), but the point is, it fit! I was mucho excited. I tried on several others I didn't like, and two that I loved. The short black one was my absolute favorite, but the burgundy was by far the nicest-looking on me. It was definitely more flattering. I wiffled and waffled because I wanted the black dress I loved, but I finally decided to be smart and get the one that looked better. So I went to put the black one back on its rack, and when I turned around, I found the exact same dress. Only floor-length instead of knee-length. (Don't ask me how I missed it the first time around.)
I was super excited and immediately went back to try it on. The extra length made the difference, because it weighed it down enough that it pulled out the wrinkles around the hips and upper thighs that made me decide against the short one. It looked absolutely freaking phenomenal. The dress is beyond gorgeous, and I'm over the moon that my mom bought it for me.
Hello my pretty. *waits for the adoration*
