So yesterday I went up to London and queued for 5+ hours at the 02 Shepherd's Bush Arena to see Adam Lambert perform his last night of the Glam Nation Tour. So the queuing part ended up being not so bad as we (Freja and I) befriended a group of girls who were stood behind us: Shannon (London) & Sophie (Cornwall - she'd made the journey up this weekend despite the snow), Misha (London - and yes I too freaked at the name but she's a girl), Katie (Essex) and Chloe (Essex) - who were all a lovely and joined in with the stupid tasks that Freja and I were setting ourselves because we were bored. I had to go get some random persons autograph, Freja had to get her photo with someone passing by, Chloe hugged a random stranger, Sophie glittered some random persons hair, Shannon and Misha had to go by tin foil and make tin foil hats and Katie had to convince the ticket tout to sing with her.

So by the time we eventually got in we were freezing cold but in high spirits which was brilliant.

The opening act were some group (of 3) called 'I Play In My Toybox.' They were alright, songs all sounded the same but they knew how to rile the crowd and get us all dancing and singing along.

And then (eventually) Adam came on stage and he was simply amazing. Such a stunning voice that it just floored me. He was plagued by technical difficulties so instead he sung without his ear piece at one point, though you couldn't tell he was struggling and it was only when he joked about it that we realised. The set wasn't as long as it could have been because of all the technical issues but he did sing two acoustic songs: Aftermath and Whataya want from me. And OMG were they just beautiful. Probably helped I was only five people back from the front but yeah. Wow.

So there you have it, my first concert was just brilliant and I loved every minute of it until it came to the home journey which was a disaster. We caught the last train out of London Victoria at 12:07am which was due in at Maidstone East (7 stations outside of London) at 01:15am. However at 01:00am we were sat just two stations outside of London and were being told there was a delay ahead. Fine, sure, whatever! We could handle that as the train was warm and the staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be. It was snowing and I don't ever blame them for these things.

Yet at 01:40 we pulled into Borough Green station (4 stops outside of London) and were told we had to get off the train because we line ahead was blocked by a broken down train and was nothing to do with the snow. We were then to wait for a coach (which was meant to be there already) that would stop at every station on route and drop people off. This meant that the coach would reach Maidstone at 03:30am (!!!!!!) as it had to go country roads in the snow.

However! At 02:10 there was still no coach and no people at the train station so we (a group of Maidstone East bound passengers) decided to get a taxi and go home directly. I finally got home at 03:00am - cold, tired and damp. According to some guy who we got talking to at the concert and actually ended up on the same train as us, he had to stay at the station to get the coach home to Ashford (the last stop for the train) he text to say he didn't get home till after 05:00am as the coach didn't arrive until nearly 02:30am and didn't drop off at Maidstone till after 4am. So thank god we got a taxi!

Tonight I'm skipping show choir because of the weather and me feeling absolutely exhausted and I'm staying with the Boy.

Apart from ALL the drama I must admit that Adam Lambert was fantastic and I'll definitely go to another show of his!

day out, random!
