Th B-52s Still Rock!

A very hot concert last night, but good anyway. A group called "Betty" opened for "The B-52s", and they were interesting, to say the least. Apparently, they are originally from the DC area. They also mentioned they were doing some kind of show at the Studio Theater in September (note this, all my theatre friends).

The B-52s played some of their old stuff, and quite a few new songs. Of course "Private Idaho", "Roam", and "Love Shack" were among the ones they did in their regular set. As encores, they did "Planet Clare" and, of course (it wasn't a rock...) "Rock Lobster".

There were two songs I had hoped to hear that they did not do- "Deadbeat Club" and "Channel Z", but no matter- given the heat, and the fact that they are all at least my age if not older, I think they did what they did awesomely.

Someone told me a while back that Kate Pearson had left the group. She was there, too, though I noticed they seemed to feature the other female singer, Cindy Wilson, on most of the songs, as if Kate may be phasing herself out somehat. Though, there is no one who can do that high soprano line on "Planet Clare" like she can. Of course Fred Schneider III never changes. He made some comment about his "eardrums sweating" last night (another night where it cooled off to the 90s.)

We had a good time, and P said he enjoyed the concert, too, more than he had thought he would. We just both needed water. Lots of it, by the time we left for home.

And we were hoome by 11:00PM. That is the nice thing about Wolf Trap compared with Nissan. Not hard to get out of, and an easy ride home. Even Tysons is not hard to get through at that time of the night, and Vienna is just about asleep, so 123 is a breeze.

OK, so that was the end of my "Three Concerts at Wolf Trap in two weeks tour." ALL the concerts we saw were really good, and we had seats at various spots in the theatre for all. Truth to tell, I think I liked the box seats we had for the Moody Blues best, though the seats we had last night (lower front orchestra) were pretty good. I just wish we had been a little closer.

I did notice one thing last night- the base line vibrated my chest cavity, just like happened last year when we were watching Motley Crue at Nissan. The only difference was it did not make me feel violently ill this time- only a bit uncomfortable, till I got used to it. Weird.
I forgot to ask P if he noticed it too. Of course, sometimes I am more sensitive to these things.

Anyway, I had a good time, and wished I could sleep in this morning, but at work I am, and will get to it, next.
