Douzo last week was a lot of fun. The restaurant is totally trendy, so there was a wait even on Wednesday night. I have to admit, I didn't like the weird "getting at table at the bar" system. But we lucked out, and got a table within about 10-15 minutes. The food was absolutely great. At least, for a vegetarian. I had the special green tea martini, seaweed salad, a natto maki, a kanpyo maki, and the veggie tempura dinner. The martini was good, citrusy and the right level of alcoholic. The natto was delicious and the maki were generously filled. The veggie tempura was also very very good. The veggie selection was above average, with good fresh shiitake mushrooms, actually textured squash, and broccolini along with the standards, and they were perfectly done. All the stuff Geoff had looked good too. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. We went to Franchesca's after to split an apple turnover and have some herbal tea. (And that was good too!) It was a fun night!
The rest of the week, I didn't do too much major. I was a little beat after my crazy busy last week! I ran errands, like grocery shopping, and I went to the Galleria with
mzsylver to shop. I actually ended up buying some undies at Victoria's Secret (had an old gift card), a gift for a friend, and buy one get one half off dress shirts at Express. This shirt:
I actually bought that color, and a royal purple. This is good. Otherwise, I have three dress shirts, and they are all black, and look alike, and one of them is pretty much dead. I like to get these things at Old Navy, since they are cheaper, but they have been failing me of late. So that was a very reasonable set of purchases at the mall.
I did a little lame sewing this weekend, I made a dust cover for one of our dressers, which I then dusted and cleaned, did small house chores like that. Ordered some Snapfish stuff.
Yesterday I had lunch with Heather at the Friendly Toast. We both had grilled cheeses. I had the Darn Good Grilled Cheese, with sweet potato fries, and let me say the sandwich lived up to its name. There was olive tapenade, and the strawberry dipping sauce went disturbingly well. The sweet potato fries were acceptable, but not particularly exciting. Next time I have a lunch item, I am going with the onion rings, which I have yet to try. We were there for two plus hours, it was pretty awesome. Heather is working on a really hilarious product development project, for some hilarious clients. I am sure it is under wraps to some extent, but you should ask her about it if you know her. (I am talking about Heather B., she was 06.) Anyway, it was really nice. We also got catcalled on our way home, despite both of us wearing jeans and sweatshirts...
Have been working at school today and yesterday, moderate productivity...
Tonight I am heading to a birthday partay at Cragie on Main. Never been before, but have heard a lot of good stuff...
