I wish I had the energy to write a proper update.
We've been in the house 3 weeks now, and haven't achieved much more than unpacking.
There was a bit of a disaster with the old washing maching left by the previous owner, which resulted in us spending 3 hours of a (weekday) night up to our ankles in 3 inches of water throughout the kitchen and hallway.
We've got a guy coming out to see about a replacement boiler and to assess whether we need new radiators / other upgrades to the heating system tomorrow night, so it'll finally feel like we're making some progress. Plus, we're working towards having had the front door replaced by the time we have our week off in September.
After that it'll be back to saving up again so we can have the place rewired.
Work is manic because this week will be my bosses last week before she goes on holiday and she wants *everything* done before she's gone.
The kittens are settled in fine....
