Bleh...

I’m feeling rotten this morning. Not ill, not tired, just generally down and I can’t focus. The fact I’m sat in work writing this goes some way to show that things aren’t right with me. I haven’t had time to write entries in work for months, and in truth I don’t have the time for this now, but I can’t get on with my reports. I can look at the papers for just long enough to understand them, but when I try to move on to write about them, the effort of putting some words together means I can’t recall what I just read and I have to go back and look again. It’s confusing and more than a bit frustrating.

I don’t know if it’s because I had a pretty frantic weekend or because I’m only too aware of the limited amount of time available in which to get things completed before the Christmas break. Maybe a bit of both.

So, as I wasn’t getting anywhere, I am making myself have a short time-out with a cup of tea - take a deep breath and re-focus.

Outside of work, preparations for Christmas are fairly well underway. Just the edible parts of presents to be bought and P’s main present, which may end up being obtained after Christmas. I’m working to and including the 24th December, then off until 6 January - which will be a lovely long break. I’m having Christmas day with P at his mum’s house, then driving home on Boxing Day to spend 3-5 days there. Might catch up with friends while I’m home too. We’ll head back to London in time for New Year though - hopefully might get to see Cat around then.

I can’t bring myself to write about work (other than to note that someone else in the team has now resigned and will be leaving in the New Year, so that should provide some indication as to the atmosphere here) so the only other thing to mention is that I’m considering buying a netbook after Christmas. I don’t want to spend the money involved in getting a laptop, as I only want it for typing and intermittent internet use, and the netbook seems like a nice compromise. Plus I have tiny hands so the small keyboards don’t inconvenience me. Small and light are the main priorities. The Samsung NC10 is the forerunner at the moment, but I’m waiting until January as the MSI Wind U120 (an upgraded version of the current U100) is due out and I want to compare. If anyone has any experience of netbooks, particularly these two - do give me your comments!

Right well, all the thinking about gadgets has perked me up enough to consider re-attempting my reports - better go try and make some progress.
